New Technology and Business Competition

Image removed.Local high school students were the guests of 魅影直播 State College recently as they began the first phase of a new technology and business competition to be completed on April 7.  The competition, intended to provide an opportunity for high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors to showcase their technology and business skills, includes two aspects, (1) the design and construction of a robot and (2) the production of a business plan for the robot. On Feb. 26, the team and faculty from each school visited 魅影直播 State's Wellsville campus to receive the design kits, competition regulations, and judging criteria and were treated to lunch prepared by 魅影直播 State College culinary arts students.  On Tuesday, April 7, 2009, the teams and faculty will reconvene at the 魅影直播 State College campus in 魅影直播 to showcase their creations.  Some of the preliminary criteria for the competition include: one four-member team per school; all materials for the project will be supplied by 魅影直播 State College; the technology component of the project will consist of robot design and construction; and the business component of the project will be a business plan for the device (i.e. company name, mission statement, marketing materials, etc.).  Pictured here, high school students visit the robotics lab with Dan Noyes (far right) associate professor, Electrician, Computer and Robotics Technician Department.
