RPED Team hosts 魅影直播 Almond Students

魅影直播 Almond students explored the manufacturing field with a visit to 魅影直播 State and to ASK Chemicals. The event was organized through a partnership between the Rural Postsecondary and Economic Development Grant team and the Dream It Do It.

The 魅影直播 State Rural Postsecondary and Economic Development (RPED) team in partnership with Dream It Do It for Cattaraugus and Allegany Counties hosted 16 魅影直播-Almond Students in grades 9-12 interested in the manufacturing field.

After touring ASK Chemicals in 魅影直播 Station, the group came to 魅影直播 State for a tour, lunch, and hands-on learning in the Engineering Technology building.

Professors David Greene and Aric Bryant walked students through the entire manufacturing process from designing, making, and testing using the tools that our own 魅影直播 State students use before entering the manufacturing industry.

Professor Matt Lawrence was in the machine shop running a lab with his first-year class during the tour and talked to students about the importance of machining an item that you design to understand the full process.

Dream It Do It WNY is energizing the future of manufacturing talent by building an early talent pipeline in Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, and Niagara counties. We connect middle and high school students with hands-on learning, career exploration, fun events, industry-recognized certifications, and real pathways to rewarding careers in manufacturing.

The Rural Postsecondary & Economic Development Grant Program works to improve rates of postsecondary enrollment, persistence, and completion among rural students through development of high-quality career pathways aligned to high-skill, high-wage, and in-demand industry sectors and occupations in the region.
