Pioneers fall in final seconds

Stevens Tech running back Benaly Ortega scored on a rush around the left side in the final seconds as the Fighting Bulldogs came from behind to down ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State 22-21 in an emotional season opener for both teams.  Ortega scored with three seconds remaining and the Bulldogs were able to hold the Pioneers from scoring on the ensuing kick-off to hold on for the win.

Pioneers and Panthers battle to a tie

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State and Tompkins Cortland CC battled to a 1-1 tie at the Mullen Hill Field in ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ in the season opener for both teams.

Friendly 5K Helps Restock Local Food Pantry

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College cross country team helped restock the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥-Almond food pantry by hosting the 3rd annual Friendly 5K.  Six local high school teams took on the newly redesigned course at ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State

Cross Country raises $1,000 for Cancer Society

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College cross country team started preseason practice in an unusual way to celebrate the college's Centennial.  The 17 members of the 2007 squad along with Head Coach Gary Moore and Assistant Coach Jeremiah Bailey participated in a 130 mile relay run that took them from Lockport to ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ and raised $1,000 for the American Cancer Society.

Former Pioneer Hyman signs with Voorhees

Former ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College basketball player Damian Hyman has signed a full scholarship to attend Voorhees College (Denmark, SC) beginning this fall.

Holmok named women's soccer coach

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College athletic director Kathy Feldman has appointed Anne Holmok as the college's women's soccer coach for the 2007 season.  Holmok begins her second stint as the Lady Pioneers head coach on August 13th.

Sanchez named 1st team All-American

Shortstop Jose Sanchez (Tachira, Venezuela) has been named a NJCAA Division II 1st team All-American.  Sanchez is the third Pioneer ever to be named 1st team All-American and the fifth baseball player to be named All-American.

New Era Coming for ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State Athletes

A new era of ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College athletics will begin this fall as the Pioneers will have a brand new on-campus facility that will be the new home for football, soccer, lacrosse, and track & field. Work started on the complex a few weeks back but the grounds were officially broken in a ceremony held on Friday.

Five Pioneers named Chancellor Scholar Athletes

Five ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College student-athletes have been awarded the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Scholar Athletes.  Nichole Tyler (Spencer Van Etten), Gallaway Longenecker (Manheim, PA), Heather Yaple (Holland Patent), Paul Farrell (Derby), and Zak Williamson (Rocky Point) all were honored.

Bova and Wensel named All-WNYAC

Lacrosse players Jeremiah Bova (Salamanca) and Mitch Wensel (Corning East) have added another recognition to their freshmen campaigns.  Both Bova and Wensel were named to the All-Western New York Athletic Conference team.
