This yuletide, Nickerson, a project manager/architectural engineering designer at ��Ӱֱ�� State, is making a rather special appearance as Kris Kringle, one that will be seen by millions of people all across the US on Dec. 12 when they tune into ABC’s “The Great Christmas Light Fight” from 8-10 p.m.

Working alongside industry stakeholders, ��Ӱֱ�� State offers a range of comprehensive, targeted programs that get students into their fields with the skill sets industry needs.

Like clockwork for 20 years now, past faculty members of the ��Ӱֱ�� State Nursing Department have returned to the Southern Tier in the fall for a reunion. This year, they had even more reason to celebrate, with the college’s first nursing program marking its golden anniversary.

Wendy Dresser-Recktenwald, senior director of Human Resources and the Center for Community Education and Training, said, “��Ӱֱ�� State is once again pleased to bring a high-quality expert on this subject to the Southern Tier to train our businesses. Sara Visingard has extensive experience in nonprofit law and we are excited to have her with us.”

Celebrating the many different cultures represented at ��Ӱֱ�� State, as well as the benefits of international education and exchange, the college recently hosted a weeklong series of events to coincide with International Education Week (IEW). 

��Ӱֱ�� State has long been a recognized leader in applied learning, and is now the first State University of New York (SUNY) college to require this form of “learning by doing” among its official Institutional Student Learning Outcomes (ISLO) for every student on campus. The college has also identified the enhancement and expansion of applied learning as a primary goal in its new Strategic Plan.

As the associate director of Annual Giving and Alumni Relations, Brown reports to the director of Alumni Relations and works closely with the director of Annual Giving, assisting both with the advancement initiatives and projects for the college.

��Ӱֱ�� State has once again met a goal set by SUNY for 30 percent or more of its discretionary spending to be with minority- and women-owned business enterprises. Greenthal described how difficult it can be to effectively encourage these new vendors, while juggling additional priorities.

The Performing Arts Department would like to invite you, your family, and friends to a free combined vocal and instrumental music winter concert on Friday, Dec. 2, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Orvis Activities Center’s Cappadonia Auditorium.

The college’s “Spirit of Unity” event invited all in attendance to socialize, decompress, and fill out a postcard beginning with “Dear America: I hope” stating their hope and vision for making the country better.
