Three Lady Pioneers Earn All-Region Soccer Honors

The 2008 Region III Division III women's soccer All-Region team were anounced this week and three Lady Pioneers were honored. Freshman midfielder Shelby Winchester (Maple Grove), freshman forward Jessie Smith (Fredonia) and freshman defender Audrey Rath (Medina) were each named to the second team.

State College has recently been notified that its admissions promotional
materials captured a coveted Platinum Award in the recent MarCom award
competition, while the view book garnered a Gold Award, and Invitation Tuesday
Tours and the Web site home page each won an Honorable Mention.

Health Information Technology Graduates Achieve 100 Percent Pass Rate

Graduates of ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State
College's Internet-based health information technology (HIT) program, Class of
2008, achieved a 100 percent pass rate on the Registered Health Information
Technician (RHIT) national certification exam. This represents the fifth year
since 2000 that graduates achieved a 100 percent pass rate!

Six Pioneers Land on All-WNYAC Soccer Team

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College is represented by six players on the All-WNYAC team announced recently.  Hiroshi Ozaki (Tokyo, Japan), Caleb Drake (Jasper Troupsburg), Lucas Wales (Bath Haverling), and Dan Fabiny (Wellsville) were 1st team selections while Kevin Arilotta (Churchville) and Jason Durst (Gates Chili) were named to the 2nd team.

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College Will Stage the Play, A New Brain

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College will stage the play, A New Brain, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Nov. 14-16, in the Orvis Activities Auditorium. Curtain time is 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with a 2:30 p.m. matinee on Sunday. Cost of admission is $3 for students and $5 for the general public.

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State men's cross country team is ranked 4th while the women's team is ranked 6th in the latest NJCAA Division III national poll.  The men's team finished third at the Region III championships while the women finished fifth.

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State volleyball team remains ranked 7th in the latest NJCAA Division III national poll.  This is the Lady Pioneers' second consecutive week ranked 7th.  ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State has spent the entire season ranked in the top 10.

Men's Soccer Moves Up to 5th Nationally

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State men's soccer team is ranked 5th in the latest NJCAA Division III national poll.  The Pioneers moved up two spots from last week's ranking of 7th.  This is the eighth consecutive week that the team has been ranked in the top 15 rankings.

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College men's soccer team took advantage of two corner kick opportunities in the second half and downed Tompkins Cortland CC 2-0 in a Region III Division III Tournament quarterfinal match-up.  The #2 seeded Pioneers advance to the semifinals on Saturday where they will take on #3 seeded SUNY Delhi.

Four members of the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College volleyball team were named All-WNYAC at this past weekend's conference tournament.  Yurika Toyodome (Tokyo, Japan) and Jenni Jerome (Syracuse/Westhill) were 1st team selections, Breanna Horton (Owego Free) was named to the 2nd team, and Emily Linn (Portville) was named 3rd team.

Six members of the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College women's soccer team have earned All-WNYAC honors following a very successful 2008 campaign.  Jessie Smith (Fredonia), Brittany Hannah (Eastridge), Shelby Winchester (Maple Grove), and Meghan Lowell (Keshequa) were named to the 1st team while Audry Rath (Medina) and Chelsea Lafayette (Eastridge) were named to the 2nd team.

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College women's soccer team fell 4-0 to Broome CC in the Region III Division III B bracket finals in the rain on Saturday.  The Lady Pioneers, ranked #6 in the latest NJCAA poll, end the season 11-5-1 mark.

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College volleyball team captured the progam's first Western New York Athletic Conference Championship with two victories at the annual end-of-year tournament.  The Lady Pioneers downed Niagara CCC 3-1 in the semis and Genesee CC 3-1 to claim the title and improve to 33-3 on the year.

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College football team battled #19 Lackawanna College tough in the rain on Saturday but the Falcons were able to pull out a 21-7 victory.  ASC falls to 3-4 (0-4 NFC) while the Lackawanna improves to 6-1 (3-1 NFC).

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College women's soccer team scored two early goals and went on for a 3-1 victory over SUNY Delhi in a Region III Division III B Semifinal. With the win the Lady Pioneers advance to the Region III B finals on Saturday vs. Broome CC.

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College volleyball team earned their 31st victory as they wrapped up the regular season with a 25-6, 25-14, 25-15 victory over Erie CC. The Lady Pioneers, ranked #6 in the latest NJCAA poll, are now 31-3 on the season and 6-0 in WNYAC play.
