Brooks Named Region Athlete of the Week

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College women's basketball player Brittney Brooks (Elmira Free) has been named the Region III female athlete of the week. Brooks led her team to the championship of the ASC Tournament with victories over Jefferson CC, 63-45, and Dean College, 76-69.
Pioneer Men Finish 8th at Half Marathon

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State runners finished in 8th place out of 17 teams at the NJCAA Half Marathon National Championship this past weekend at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas.

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College men's basketball team erased a 45-42 deficit with a 33-6 run in the 2nd half en route to a 79-57 victory over Dean College in the consolation game of the ASC Tournament. ASC enters the Thanksgiving break with a 6-5 record.

Six Pioneer football players were named to the Northeast Football Conference All-Conference team for the 2008 season. Wide Receiver Josh Griffen (Englewood, NJ), running back DeAndre Johnson (Detroit, MI), defensive lineman Michael Gee (Englewood, NJ), defensive back Damion King (Detroit, MI), defensive back Ike Iloegbu (Brentwood) and punter Preston Washburn (Dundee) were each named Second Team All-NFC.

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College volleyball team struggled in their NJCAA Division III quarterfinal match-up and fell 21-25, 25-21, 19-25, and 9-25 to #5 seed Hibbing (MN) CC. The Lady Pioneers were able to bounce right back in a consolation bracket contest, downing Anne Arundel (MD) CC 25-15, 25-16, and 25-9.
