Pioneers Sit In Second at Swim Regionals

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College men's swimming team sits in second place after day one of the Region III/Northeast Districts at Monroe CC on Friday. The Pioneers accumulated 98 points and only trail Monroe CC's 170 points in the nine team competition.

Cold Shooting Streaks Doom Pioneers

Both the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College basketball team struggled shooting as they fell to Erie CC on Tuesday night at the Flickenger Center in Buffalo.  The women sees their record fall to 9-11 (4-4 Region III Division II) after a 52-49 decision while the men are now 13-11 (5-5 WNYAC) following a 67-61 loss.

Trailing 61-58 with four and half minutes left in the game, the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College men's basketball team went on a 12-0 run to close out the contest to win their fifth straight contest, 70-61 over Niagara CCC.  The Pioneers improve to 13-10 overall and 5-4 in WNYAC play.

Brittney Brooks (Elmira Free) netted 31 points as the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College women's basketball team defeated a fiesty Niagara CCC 72-65 in Sanborn on Saturday.  The Lady Pioneers are now 9-10 overall on the season and 4-3 in Region III Division II contests.

State Budget Update

In my effort to keep all
constituencies informed as the New York State budget process evolves,
the following summarizes the impact that Governor Paterson's budget
proposal may have on ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State. You'll recall
from my earlier communication that there were three types of possible
budget cuts that would substantially affect the college. They were: the
non-funding of negotiated salary increases, the state's redirection of
90% of the revenue from tuition increases, and
a SUNY base budget cut.

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College men's basketball used a 29-0 run en route to a 87-58 victory over the JV squad from Ithaca College.  The Pioneers have won three straight and are 11-10 on the season.

Speaker Named Pre-Season Baseball All-American

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College sophomore infielder Derek Speaker (Starpoint) has been named to the NJCAA Division II Pre-season All-American 1st team.  Speaker is the only representative of Region III in the any of the three teams.
