��Ӱֱ�� State College's 2008 graduates distinguished themselves again this year by garnering a placement/transfer record of 98 percent.

The employment and transfer figures are based on an annual survey sent to all ASC graduates; 2008's questionnaire netted a 68 percent response rate from surveyed graduates.

��Ӱֱ�� State College is ranked 31^st of the Top 50 baccalaureate colleges in the North and tied for 9^th place for the best public baccalaureate college in the North in the 2010 edition of "America's Best Colleges" by U.S. News & World Report, the nation's leading source of service journalism and news. Kathleen Casey Ebert, Wellsville, professor of mathematics and statistics at ��Ӱֱ�� State College, has been invited to serve on the Provost's Advisory Group for the SUNY (State University of New York) Assessment Initiative as a representative of faculty, the GEAR (General Education Assessment Review) committee group, and the Colleges of Technology.

The Hinkle Memorial Library on the ��Ӱֱ�� State College campus has been undergoing an “extreme makeover” during the summer which included new carpeting, new furniture, new window treatments, and re-positioning of furniture on the main floor.

��Ӱֱ�� State College kicked off another academic year Aug. 17, when President Dr. John M. Anderson welcomed new and returning faculty and staff to his opening remarks.

��Ӱֱ�� State College faculty and staff welcomed this year's incoming freshman class of 1,500 students during the 16^th annual New Student Convocation. This year's speakers were Dr. Daniel Barwick, ASC Director of Institutional Advancement; ��Ӱֱ�� J. LaMere, Rochester, Student Senate president; and Tim Waterman,’02, Niagara Falls, who gave the welcome from alumni.

New head coach Jason Gildner and the ��Ӱֱ�� State College men's soccer team will enter the 2009 season in the NJCAA Division III National Poll.  The Pioneers, who finished 2008 with a 14-4 mark, are ranked 6th in the preseason poll.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College volleyball team is ranked #5 in the preseason NJCAA Division III poll released this week.  The Lady Pioneers are coming off a 2008 season in which they finished 4th in the nation with a program best 38-4 record.

��Ӱֱ�� State College honored history and tradition recently as it re-christened the Victorian House to better reflect the college’s history and to honor Theta Gamma, a fraternal organization whose members used the building as their lodging for decades.

State University of New York (SUNY) Chancellor Dr. Nancy L. Zimpher continued her whirlwind summer tour of SUNY’s 64 campuses with a 55^th stop at ��Ӱֱ�� State College in Allegany County on Tuesday.

Dr. Steven Tyrell, vice president for student affairs, has been selected to serve on a national task force that will look at developing a unified set of professional standards and knowledge competencies for student affairs professionals. The joint task force will look to unify professional standards that exist in the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) and the American College Personnel Association – International (ACPA).

State University of New York (SUNY) Chancellor Dr. Nancy L. Zimpher will continue her summer “get-acquainted” tour of SUNY campuses when she visits ��Ӱֱ�� State College on Tuesday, Aug. 18.

Buying local and getting rewarded for it is the driving force behind the Campus Store Rewards Program at ��Ӱֱ�� State College. Students who purchase their books and most other college-related items at either the Wellsville or ��Ӱֱ�� Campus Store will receive points toward future purchases from the store.

Jason Gildner has been named the new men's soccer coach at ��Ӱֱ�� State College. Gildner a former assistant coach at ASC and a 2005 graduate takes over a team that was 14-4 in 2008 and advanced all the way to the Region III Division III finals.
