Mike Lawandus connected on a 41-yard field goal in the first overtime as Erie CC defeated ��Ӱֱ�� State 20-17 in a wild Homecoming contest.  The win improves the Kats to 1-2 (1-0 NFC) while the Pioneers fall to 2-1 (0-1 NFC).

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College men’s cross country team won their second straight invitational taking home the crown at the FLCC Bruce Bridgeman Invitational.  The women’s team finished 2^nd.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College baseball team could not muster much offense as they were swept by identical 1-0 scores by Monroe CC.  ASC is now 3-5 in the fall season.

��Ӱֱ�� State and Mercyhurst North East battled 110 minutes to a 1-1 tie. The Pioneers are now 1-1-2 on the season.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College women’s soccer team registered their third straight victory, 4-1 over Mercyhurst North East, on Saturday afternoon as the college celebrated Homecoming 2010.  The blue & gold are now 3-1 on the year.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College volleyball team won an exciting four game match, 17-25, 29-27, 30-28, and 25-11, over Monroe CC.  The victory improves the Lady Pioneers to 6-4 and drops the Lady Tribunes to 6-4.

Jenna Lynn (York) netted two goals as the ��Ӱֱ�� State College women's soccer team shutout Jamestown CC 2-0 on Thursday.  The Lady Pioneers are now 2-1 on the season.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College men's soccer game versus Jamestown CC was postponed due to frequent flashes of lightning.  The teams had played less than 10 minutes.  The two teams will make-up the game later in the season but no date has been determined yet.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College athletic department will honor the 1959 Men’s Basketball team during the Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony to be held Friday in the Orvis Activities Center Auditorium.  The 1959 squad won the first Region III Championship in ��Ӱֱ�� State history and fourth ever in school history.

��Ӱֱ�� State College will induct four new members into the athletic department Hall of Fame this Friday evening.  Jody Alvarez (women’s soccer), Kirt Zimniewicz (baseball), Alison Brotherton (softball), and Gaffel Hippolyte (track & field) will be inducted at 6 p.m. in the Orvis Activities Center auditorium.

Lisa Reynolds, Almond, a nursing major, was chosen Student Of The Month.

Reynolds’ nominator, Ashley Kehoe, director of civic engagement and student leadership programs, recognized that Lisa went “above and beyond this summer to make the new program ‘Meet ��Ӱֱ��’ a success. This program was designed for new students to move in a day early and get acquainted with the town of ��Ӱֱ��.”

��Ӱֱ�� State College will be accepting students in a new baccalaureate-level sport management program beginning fall 2011. Students may enter the program, which results in a bachelor of business administration (BBA) degree, as freshmen; students holding associate degrees in sport management may transfer into the program with full junior status.

Among the new hires are faculty members Betty Bedner, Sean Haggerty, Dr. Laura McDermott, Cynthia Paxhia, and Dr. Philip Schroeder, and staff members Brandy Avery, Mark Cragg, Joseph Kubinski, Patrick Lesswing, Erica Matteson, Stephen Schnorr, Deena Smith, LeAnne St. Gelais, and Myron Wilson.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College baseball team split a WNYAC doubleheader vs. Erie CC on Sunday afternoon.  The Kats won the opener 9-7 while the Pioneers won the nightcap 2-0.  ASC is now 3-3 on the season.

Cody Scepaniak (Vestal) and Josh Griffin (Englewood, NJ) connected on four touchdown passes and Sir Aaron Taylor (West Chester/Lincoln Hall) scored twice as the ��Ӱֱ�� State football team rolled past Hartwick JV 56-23.  ASC is 2-0 for the first time since 2006 with the victory.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College volleyball team won the Jefferson CC Tournament on Saturday.  On the day, the Lady Pioneers were 4-1 and improve to 5-4 on the young season.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College baseball team swept a pair of WNYAC contests from Niagara CCC, 1-0 & 5-2, to open up the home portion of the fall season.  ASC is now 2-2 on the young season.

��Ӱֱ�� State scored less than two minutes in to their contest versus Jefferson CC but the Cannoneers scored the next three goals en route to a 3-2 victory.  ASC is now 1-1-1 on the season.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College women's soccer team defeated Jefferson CC 4-2 in their 2010 home opener.  The Lady Pioneers are now 1-1 on the young season.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College cross country teams defeated Finger Lakes CC in the ASC Invitational on Saturday.  The Pioneer men scored a perfect 15 in winning while the women won by a score of 24-31.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College men's basketball team will host a blood drive on Wednesday, Sept. 15th in the Central Dining Hall.  ASC has partnered with the Community Blood Bank of New York and will be competing with the SUNY Fredonia men's basketball team to see what team has the most donors in their location.

��Ӱֱ�� State College’s Center for Organic and Sustainable Agriculture (COSA) hosted the 2010 Northeast Buckwheat Field Day in August. Sponsors included the ��Ӱֱ�� State College Institute for Sustainability, the Cornell University Agricultural Experiment Station, and the Northeast Organic Farmers Association of New York.

Dr. Richard Kellogg, professor of psychology at ��Ӱֱ�� State College, is the author of an article appearing in the most recent issue of THE NEW YORK REVIEW OF SCIENCE FICTION, a scholarly journal published by The Dragon Press of Pleasantville, NY. Titled “Philip Wylie and the Atomic Age,” the article discusses Wylie’s contributions to the development of nuclear technology and reviews three of his pop

The Automotive Trades Department of ��Ӱֱ�� State College (Wellsville Campus), in conjunction with Tenneco, is sponsoring a “Drive and Ride” event on Monday, Sept. 20, 2010, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Wellsville Campus. This event is open to the public free of charge.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College men's cross country team remains ranked #2 in the first in-season NJCAA Division III poll. 

Sir Aaron Taylor (West Chester/Lincoln Hall) has earned the NJCAA Special Teams Player of the Week award following his performance in ��Ӱֱ�� State's 22-7 victory over the Apprentice School.  Taylor had previously been named the NFC special teams player of the week.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State women's soccer team couldn't overcome a two-goal first half deficit and fell 3-2 to Tompkins Cortland CC in their 2010 opener.  TC3 improves to 3-1-1 on the young season with the victory.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State volleyball team opened up WNYAC play on Tuesday evening at Genesee CC but couldn't keep early momentum going and fell 25-17, 19-25, 18-25, and 17-25 to the Lady Cougars.  The Lady Pioneers are now 1-3 on the year.

��Ӱֱ�� State College sophomore safety Sir Aaron Taylor (Westchester/Lincoln Hall) has been named the Northeast Football Conference special teams player of the week.  Taylor was key to the Pioneers 22-7 victory over the Apprentice School.

��Ӱֱ�� State and Mohawk Valley CC played to a 2-2 draw on day two of the East-West Showdown at Pioener Stadium.   ASC is now 1-0-1 on the young season while MVCC is 3-0-1.
