��Ӱֱ�� State freshmen forward Haley Witchella (Oxford Academy) has earned another honor after a solid week for the Lady Pioneers. Withcella was named the NJCAA DII women's basketball player of the week.

Tyler Peet (Unadilla Valley) and Josh Simmons (Campbell Savona) earned All-Northeast District, All-Region, and All-WNYAC honors after qualifying for the NJCAA National Championships.

Professor Tom Stolberg of ��Ӱֱ�� State’s Business Department met with Honors Program members on Feb. 20 with a simple but startling promise: by using the ‘miracle’ of compounding interest in tax-deferred index accounts held over many years, ordinary people can amass very significant amounts of money by retirement age, even considering current low interest rates.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State Drama Club will present the play Mousetrap, at the Lake Lodge, Thursday, April 12, at 7 p.m. followed by an opening night reception; Friday, April 13, a dinner theater performance at Lake Lodge, with dinner beginning at 6 p.m.; and Saturday, April 14, 7 p.m. Cost is $2 for students, $5 for the general public. Cost for the dinner theater performance is $18 per person. A bus will provide transportation between Lake Lodge and ��Ӱֱ�� State campus.

Haley Witchella (Oxford Academy) and Tyler Peet (Unadilla Valley) have been named the ��Ӱֱ�� State athletes of the week by the SID office.

��Ӱֱ�� State freshman basketball player Haley Witchella (Oxford Academy) has been named the Region III female athlete of the week. Witchella had a big week as the Lady Pioneers increased there winning streak to eight games.

As expected, the ��Ӱֱ�� State women's basketball team will be the #2 seed in the Region III Division II in this week's tournament. The Lady Pioneers ended the regular season with a 18-8 overall mark and a 7-3 record in RIII DII.

��Ӱֱ�� State wrestler Tyler Peet (Gilbertsville/Unadilla Valley) was 2-2 in the 149 lb. weight class at the NJCAA National Championships.  Peet accounted for all of the Pioneers 5.5 points in the event.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State men's basketball team struggled from the floor and fell 66-54 to Jamestown CC in their 2011-12 season finale. The Pioneers end the year 7-21 (2-12 WNYAC) while JCC improves to 14-14.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State women's basketball team clinched the #2 seed in the Region III Division II Tournament with a total team victory, 62-56 over Jamestown CC.  The Lady Pioneers are now winners of eight straight and are 18-8 overall (7-3 RIII DII).

��Ӱֱ�� State wrestlers Tyler Peet (Gilbertsville/Unadilla Valley) and Josh Simons (Campbell Savona) are in Rochester, MN for the 2012 NJCAA National Championships. Peet and Simons will hit the mat for first round action on Friday morning.

��Ӱֱ�� State (AS) has entered into articulation agreements with a variety of institutions, including high schools, community colleges, and master-degree-granting universities, in order to promote the easy transfer of qualified students between those institutions and ��Ӱֱ�� State.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State Nursing Department continued its “Pay It Forward” philosophy through the awarding of its sixth annual round of “Pay It Forward” scholarships, established during the fall 2006 semester and presented to this year’s recipients, Marlene Cocchetto, Arkport; Douglas Elliott, Arcade, and Meghan Walters, Branchport, who each received $150 and good wishes from the class of 2006.

Mark Payne, assistant professor in the Liftech Equipment Web site as he and his students tested a new technology and design in skid steer equipment.

As part of ��Ӱֱ�� State’s continuing Center for Community Education and Training will offer a small animal first aid training class on Monday, March 26, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. in room 223 of the Agriculture Science Building. An additional session will be offered on Monday, April 16, 6-8 p.m.

The NCAA Division III membership committee announced this week that it has granted exploratory status to the ��Ӱֱ�� State athletic program. ��Ӱֱ�� State submitted the NCAA application in January.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State men's basketball team led by 13 at half but was unable to hold on and fell 85-82 to Genesee CC in the final road contest of the season.  The Pioneers are now 7-20 overall and 2-11 in WNYAC play.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State women's basketball team earned their seventh straight victory on Tuesday with a 86-74 victory over Genesee CC.  The Lady Pioneers are now 17-8 overall and 6-3 in Region III Division II play.

Indoor track athlete Megan Votava (��Ӱֱ�� Almond) and swimmer Jake Giglio (Hornell) have been named the ��Ӱֱ�� State athletes of the week by the SID office.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State men's swimming team finished 4th out of 11 teams at the 2012 Northeast Districts/Region III Championships. The Pioneers scored 226 points in the three-day event held at Monroe CC.

Mark Pendelton (Beacon) had a solid day as the ��Ӱֱ�� State swimming team closed out competition at the Northeast Districts/Region III Championships on Sunday.

Jake Giglio (Hornell) and Tyler Sherwood (Elmira Southside) earned 3rd place finishes to highlight Day 2 of the Northeast Districts/Region III Championships at Monroe CC.

Lakeland CC used a monster 2nd half to ease past ��Ӱֱ�� State 94-71 on Saturday afternoon.  The Lakers used a 45 to 17 run and tallied 62 points in the 2nd to improve to 19-7 on the year.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State women's basketball team used a 27-0 run to run past Lakeland (OH) CC in their final non-conference contest of the season.  The Lady Pioneers have now won six straight games and are 16-8 on the year.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State swimming team had three top six finishes during day one at the Northeast Districts/Region III Championships.

Both the ��Ӱֱ�� State men's and women's indoor track & field team finished 3rd at the Region III Championships held in conjunction with the RIT Orange & Brown Invitational. The women scored 96 points while the men scored 86.

The Hinkle Memorial Library on the ��Ӱֱ�� State campus will host a photo exhibit by faculty member Social and Behavioral Sciences Department at the college, through March 25. A photographer’s reception will be held Thursday, March 1, from 4-6 p.m.  All are welcome.

Six students enrolled in ��Ӱֱ�� State’s sport management program, accompanied by faculty members Dr. Cliff McPeak and Dr. Rhema Fuller, recently traveled to the Quicken Loans Arena and Progressive Field in downtown Cleveland for a one-day workshop on ticket sales.

Pat Parker (Queens/Hillcrest) hit a three-pointer as time expired to lift the ��Ӱֱ�� State men's basketball team to a 58-56 victory over Monroe CC.  The victory snaps a Pioneers five game losing skid and improves the team to 7-18 (2-10 WNYAC).

After a slow start, the ��Ӱֱ�� State women's basketball team raced past Roberts Wesleyan JV 70-45 in a non-conference tilt.  The Raiders jumped out to a 12-7 lead but the Pioneers answered with a 32 to 8 run to close out the half.
