Hoag Leads Pioneers to Split

Garrett Hoag (Dansville) struck out 17 in a ten inning complete game victory over Broome CC as ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State split a Region III Division III doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. After winning the opener 1-0 in ten innings the Pioneers fell 5-1 in the nightcap.
Pioneers Rally but Fall in OT

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State lacrosse team trailed 10-5 to SUNY Delhi in the 3rd quarter but rallied to the send game into overtime tied at 12-12. #10 Delhi escaped Pioneer Stadium with the victory after James Varnesi scored from his knees with 52.6 seconds remaining in OT.
Track Meet Moved Back to Tuesday

The scheduled track & field event at ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State's Pioneer Stadium on Friday (3/30) has been moved to Tuesday, April 3rd due to forecasted low temperatures and rain.
Mercyhurst Wins Tight Battle

Mercyhurst North East's Michael Laguardia scored with 8:28 remaining to break a 7-7 tie to lift the Saints to a 8-7 victory over ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State in a Region III battle. The Saints improve to 4-1 on the season while the Pioneers are 2-4.

Seven Inducted into Psi Beta Honor Society

Seven students at ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State were recently inducted into Psi Beta honor society, an organization which promotes interest in the study of psychology at two-year colleges. Students must have earned a 3.0 (out of a possible 4.0) grade point average, including 3.0 in at least one psychology course.
Johnson Signs with UMASS

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State sophomore Colter Johnson (Warren, PA) has signed his letter intent to continue his academic and athletic career at the University of Massachusetts – Amherst. Johnson who served as the punter and place kicker this past season is the third Pioneer to sign with a NCAA DI institution.

2012 SkillsUSA Postsecondary Championship Results

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State’s School of Applied Technology, Wellsville, hosted the 14th annual New York State Postsecondary (college level) SkillsUSA competition on Saturday, March 24. Competitions took place in automotive service, carpentry, collision repair, commercial baking, culinary, diesel technology, masonry, residential wiring, technical drafting, and welding.
Baseball Team Assists with Stream Clean Up

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State baseball spent their last free Saturday of the spring season to assist in the cleanup of Orebed Creek in the Wellsville/Shongo area. The Orebed Creek is a tributary to the Genesee River.
Hart and Hoag Named Athletes of the Week

Lacrosse sophomore Mike Hart (Ajax, ONT) and baseball sophomore Garrett Hoag (Dansville) have been named the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State athletes of the week by the SID office. The award covers the start of the spring season for each of the teams.
Pioneers Split with King's

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State baseball team got the offense going in game two of a split at King's College on Sunday. After falling 2-1 in the opener to the JV Monarchs the Pioneers exploded for a 15-3 victory in the nightcap to earn the team's first win of the season.

Penalties Slow Down Pioneers

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State lacrosse team had trouble staying out of the penalty box in a 13-6 loss at Tompkins Cortland CC on Saturday. The Pioneers were flagged for 10 penalties in the contest.
Hinkle Library to Host Exhibit by Maria Rhone

Monroe CC broke open a 3-3 tie by outscoring ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State 7-1 in the 2nd quarter en route to a 17-12 Region III victory. #5 MCC improves to 4-1, 4-0 Region III while the Pioneers fall to 2-2, 2-1 Region III.

Students Receive Scholarships to Attend NAPFA Northeast Region Symposium

As part of the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State financial planning outreach program in which students receive exposure to "real world" financial planning practitioners, four students attended the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) Northeast Symposium, held at the Hilton Newark, on March 7 and 8.

Students Place 4th at Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State placed fourth out of 12 teams at the 2012 Northeast Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition at Northeastern University, Boston, MA. This is a remarkable achievement given the level of competition from teams sponsored by major northeastern universities and given almost all of the other teams had graduate student members.

Tough 2nd and 3rd Quarter Trips Up Pioneers

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State lacrosse team raced out to a 5-2 lead after one quarter but Dean (MA) College outscored the Pioneers 11-3 in the middle quarters to grab a lead they wouldn't let up in a 14-11 victory. Dean is now 1-1 on the year while ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ is 2-1.

Lax Team Races Past Niagara

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State lacrosse team raced out to a 7-0 lead in the 1st quarter and never looked back as they downed Niagara CCC 23-8 in their home opener. The Pioneers are now 2-0 for the first time since 2009.
Pioneers Drop Heartbreaker

Hiwasse College (TN) rallied for three runs in the 9th inning to defeat ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State 8-7. The Pioneers led 7-5 heading into the final frame but Hiwassee used two hits, two walks, and an error to rally for the victory.

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State softball team couldn't must enough offense and fell in both halves of a Snowbird Softball doubleheader in Myrtle Beach, SC. The Pioneers fell 9-0 to Danville Area (IL) CC and 9-1 to Herkimer CCC.

In both of their games on Tuesday, the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State softball dug themselves into early holes and could never recover. Finger Lakes jumped out to a 6-0 lead en route to a 6-2 victory and Delaware Tech scored 10 in the 1st inning leading to a 18-4 victory.
