��Ӱֱ�� State students are poised to make their own run with one of the college’s alternative fuel vehicles – a green initiative about to meet the need for speed. A prime demonstration of project-based learning, the students have rebuilt or modified much of the car as they’ve learned to make it race ready. They’re raring to go, but are still in need of parts and supplies.

Physical and Health Sciences Department was one of 18 people nationwide who was recently selected to attend the Nucleic Acid Chemistry workshop at Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA. This workshop is a part of the National Science Foundation-sponsored Chemistry Collaborations, Workshops and Communities of Scholars (cCWCS) program.

��Ӱֱ�� State is pleased to announce its partnership to become a part of the Center for Evaluation of Clean Energy Technology (CeCeT) that is implementing a photovoltaic (PV) and wind equipment test facility. The new PV and wind test centers will operate as the core of CeCeT’s network of renewable energy resources.

Recognized at the college’s employee recognition banquet were: Dr. Melvin Chambliss of ��Ӱֱ�� Station, NY; Deborah Claire of Arkport, NY; Mark Payne of Canisteo, NY; Charlene McGregor of Canisteo, NY; and Lieutenant Scott Bingham. Each received a certificate and a monetary gift.

Included among those receiving promotions are Brenda Billings, Maria Bordeaux, Kristine Clark, Keelan Croston, Gertrude Dorsey, Gary Lovell, Marjorie Morgan, Steven Scott, Robert Wise, and Barry Young.

��Ӱֱ�� State recently announced promotions for faculty and staff.

Jeffrey Stevens received the award in Faculty Service; Gregory Sammons was honored with the Professional Service award; and Sue Cole was presented with the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Classified Service.

Corwin Mackney of Andover, NY, joined the ranks of the University Police at ��Ӱֱ�� State at a ceremony on Monday, May 14, 2012. Dr. John Anderson, president of ��Ӱֱ�� State, officially swore him into service.

Those honored were David Chilson and James Grillo. Honorees received a certificate and a college lamp to commemorate the occasion.

Those honored for 35 years included Sandra Gerling-Yelle and Charles Neal. Honorees received a certificate and college weather station to commemorate the occasion.

Those honored for 30 years included John Buckwalter, Lawrence Fox, Yogi Jonchhe, and Rita White.

Those employees honored for 20 years included Gary Porter, carpenter, facilities services; and Stewart Sharrett of ��Ӱֱ�� Station, NY, carpenter, facilities services. Honorees received a college clock and a certificate to commemorate the occasion.

In May 2012, ACES brought home some more hardware in the form of another gold award from NACUFS for a catered special event at the Lake Lodge. The Dining Services team is part of Auxiliary Campus Enterprises and Services Inc. (ACES), the not-for-profit corporation that provides dining services on campus.

For award year 2011-12, the foundation provided $9,342.92 in work-study funds for 12 students in the engineering, human resources, international student records and financial services, student activities, and public relations offices.

The theme of this year’s commencement was centered on veterinary technology students with hands-on experience and civic engagement while supporting community organizations.

��Ӱֱ�� State students took top honors at the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) annual Speech Contest, sponsored by the Olean section of ASME and Dresser-Rand. Six ��Ӱֱ�� State seniors attended the competition, which involved three representatives each from ��Ӱֱ�� State and ��Ӱֱ�� University who report on their senior project/internship experiences.

Haley Witchella (Oxford Academy) of the ��Ӱֱ�� State women's basketball team and Keegan Phelan (East Aurora) who played on both the football and lacrosse teams were honored as the athletic department's Freshman Athletes of the Year.

��Ӱֱ�� State softball player Shelby Freligh (Auburn/Union Springs), women's basketball player Carriola Chambers (Manhattan/Facing History), and football player Colter Johnson (Warren, PA) were named the recipients of the Daniel J. Neverett Sportsmanship at the athletic department's annual award ceremony.

��Ӱֱ�� State is pleased to announce that financial planning program, has been elected to serve as the National Chair of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) for 2012-2013.

Volleyball player Amanda Bush (Altoona, PA) was awarded both the ��Ӱֱ�� State Athletic Department female academic and leadership awards while Thomas Anderson (Sodus) was named the male academic award winner and Rory Spain (Tully) was the recipient of the male leadership award.

��Ӱֱ�� State track & field athlete Briana Dorsey (Rochester/School of the Arts) and football player Devin Simmons (Elmira Free) have been named the athletic department senior athletes of the year.

Longtime cross country and track & field coach Gary Moore was inducted into the NJCAA Division III Cross Country and Track & Field Coaches Association Hall of Fame this past weekend. Moore was inducted in a ceremony during the 2012 Outdoor Track & Field Championships that were held at Pioneer Stadium.

��Ӱֱ�� State had a strong showing at the 2012 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships over the weekend. The men's team finished 3rd out of 20 teams that competed while the women were 4th out of 21 teams. Pioneer athletes won five events and earned All-American status in eight total events.

The Mohawk Valley CC women's team and the Harper College men's team clinched NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship titles on Saturday during day three of competition at Pioneer Stadium on the campus of ��Ӱֱ�� State. MVCC ran away with the title while Harper edged up SUNY Delhi by five points.

The Mohawk Valley CC women's team continues to lead while the SUNY Delhi men's team leads after day two of the 2012 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at Pioneer Stadium on the campus of ��Ӱֱ�� State. MVCC has a 13 points lead over Gloucester County College after nine events scored while Delhi has a four point lead over Harper College after ten events.

His presentation addressed the distinctions between investment adviser and Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) fiduciary environments, examining the distinctions between ERISA’s “sole interests” fiduciary standard and the Investment Advisers Act’s “best interests” standard, which governs the general proceedings of investment advisers.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State softball team got solid pitching and defense in a doubleheader sweep of Finger Lakes CC.  The Pioneers won 6-0 and 6-1 to improve to 5-24 on the season.
