Dr. Earl Packard, a Hornell native and professor in the ��Ӱֱ�� State Mathematics and Physics Department, was selected to participate in the College Board’s Annual AP Reading in calculus again this summer—it will be his 11th time serving in this capacity.

“This exciting new program is a way to boost student participation in the many civic engagement, sustainability, and wellness activities we organize on campus,” says Julian Dautremont-Smith, ��Ӱֱ�� State’s Chief Sustainability Officer. “It has the potential to really help build a culture of service, health, and environmental responsibility among students.”

The ��Ӱֱ�� State community eagerly awaits the arrival of five presidential hopefuls slated to begin arriving the second week of September. The candidates for ��Ӱֱ�� State President will be on campus between September 9, 2013, and September 24, 2013, touring the college community and meeting with stakeholder groups, including the College Council and boards, President’s Council, students, faculty, and staff.

Just in time for the fall 2013 semester, ��Ӱֱ�� State welcomes a crop of new faces to its ranks. New hires include:

On Thursday, August 22, 2013, 10 ��Ӱֱ�� State students—Pernell Celestine, Migdalia Colon, Izamar Rivera, Roain Saunders, Miracalle Taylor, Miho Iba, Fuzuki Koshizawa, Yohei Koyama, Kento Matsuda, and Chihiro Takaki—left ��Ӱֱ�� in the wee hours and travelled more than 90 miles to hear President Obama’s speech on college affordability.

Team ��Ӱֱ�� designed their home to go beyond what previous decathlon homes had done, combining cutting-edge engineering with traditional Chinese architecture, and they succeeded, walking away with a first-place award in energy balance and an incredible hands-on work experience.
