With the beautiful weather, thousands of attendees came out to eat hot dogs, shop the stands of local vendors, and simply enjoy the community festival. In addition to the fun, the annual event also usually raises upwards of $10,000 for local charities, and this year was no exception.

The three-member ��Ӱֱ�� State men’s bowhunter team consisted of Austin Zauner (construction management, Darien Center), Joshua Harp (surveying and geomatics engineering technology, Farmington), and Jacob Pollock (mechanical engineering technology, Franklinville).  

Looking to the future, York said, “My end vision is to completely eliminate single-use plastic bags on ��Ӱֱ�� State’s campus and create a sustainably minded culture while doing so.”

John Lisec, an assistant professor in the Business Department, said the event provided a wonderful opportunity for ��Ӱֱ�� State sport management students to interact with sport industry professionals and develop tangible opportunities for success and job placement.

The victory marks the fifth time an ��Ӱֱ�� State team has finished first in the competition. The college has also come in second four times since first entering the event in 2006.

During this recent trip, 13 students attended a presentation from the meeting’s featured speaker, Kathleen Roth, CFP® CeFT®, president and co-founder of Waterstone Financial Services. After the presentation, the students were able to network with Roth and other professionals at the meeting. 

Receiving awards from ��Ӱֱ�� State were Helen Dean (business administration, Whitesville), Eric Eddy (culinary arts: baking, production, and management, Olean), and Cassandra Robbers (business administration, Almond).

The delegation from ASC included Cindy Thorp, academic success coach; Natasha Daniels, academic navigator; Troy Morehouse, director of Student Engagement; and Mallory Morehouse, associate director of Orientation and Family Programs.

For example, some ��Ӱֱ�� State College (ASC) faculty and staff members recently led dozens of students on service trips to Myrtle Beach, SC; New Orleans, LA; and Yabucoa, Puerto Rico.

This fall, the structure will be home to freshman and senior building construction trades shops, as well as open lab space, state-of-the-art classrooms, and faculty offices. This center was made possible through donations, grants, and the Educational Foundation of ��Ӱֱ��, Inc., which owns the Wellsville campus.  

A total of 23 new members were recently inducted into ��Ӱֱ�� State College’s chapter of the world’s largest and most prestigious honor society for two-year college students, Phi Theta Kappa. 

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College Choir Alumni organization will present its 67^th annual spring concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 22 in the Anthony C. Cappadonia Auditorium in the Orvis Activities Center on the ��Ӱֱ�� campus.

Beginning Monday, April 16, ��Ӱֱ�� State College will be hosting a weeklong series of events in celebration of Earth Week 2018.

US Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross recently announced that the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $1.5 million grant to the Research Foundation for The State University of New York, ��Ӱֱ�� State College to renovate and expand an existing building to house the Biorefinery Development and Commercialization Center (BDDC).

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College Culinary Arts Department will host a barbecue dinner from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 26.

State University of New York Chancellor Kristina M. Johnson honored 249 SUNY students from across the state in Albany recently with the 2018 Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence, including ��Ӱֱ�� State College’s own Hannah Vuozzo and Katherine Holmok.

With the first phase of the MacKenzie Makeover renovation now finished, ��Ӱֱ�� State College and its project partners recently celebrated the new look and amenities of the largest residence hall on campus with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

A total of 154 students presented 138 science and technology projects to the judges for a chance at a share of the $1,590 in prize money. Participants were divided into three divisions: senior (grades 10-12), junior (grades seven through nine), and novice (grades four through six).

“We always encourage students, from freshmen on up, to participate. Those who aren’t ready to start looking for work can simply walk around and see what a career fair is,” said Elaine Morsman, director of the ��Ӱֱ�� State Center for Career Development.
