��Ӱֱ�� State Automotive Trades students had an excellent showing at the annual Toyota Green Grand Prix at Watkins Glen International Raceway earlier this month. The Pioneers assisted other racers and ended up earning individual and team awards in several different categories.

��Ӱֱ�� State College’s Print and Mail Services Office recently took home a pair of awards from the In-Plant Printing and Mail Association’s annual In-Print contest.

State University of New York Chancellor Kristina M. Johnson honored 210 SUNY students from across the state in Albany recently with the 2018 Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence, including ��Ӱֱ�� State College’s own Peter York and Carolyn Wright.

��Ӱֱ�� State College is proud to announce that its five-year Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) program recently obtained full accreditation status from the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB). 

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College (ASC) chapter of Phi Kappa Phi was honored to recently induct 16 new student members and one staff member into the nation’s oldest, largest, and most selective honor society for all academic disciplines.

��Ӱֱ�� State educators Dr. Mark Whitman and Wayne Bensley recently shared a wealth of knowledge about the forensics and criminal justice fields with area high school students during Haverling High School’s Investigation and Forensics Career Panel.

In recognition of their excellence both inside and outside of the classroom, three ��Ӱֱ�� State College students were recently honored with Outstanding Adult Student Awards.

According to Coordinator of Student Activities Brittany Richards, the Relay for Life club adviser, the 2019 Relay for Life was a great success, as the 16 participating teams raised $11,003, which surpassed the Relay committee’s goal of $10,000.

With the importance of sustainability being taught throughout ��Ӱֱ�� State’s programs, it’s easy to see how students are securing jobs related to clean and renewable energy.

Stevens has been an ��Ӱֱ�� State employee since 2002, when he was hired as an instructor in the Electrical Trades Department. He was later promoted to assistant professor, then associate professor.

Three Pioneers came away with honors, including a second-place award and two honorable mentions.

The Pioneers earned two team medals and two individual medals, and three ��Ӱֱ�� State archers were named to the East All-Region team.

Boyle and Bailey were nominated as exemplary online SUNY educators, enthusiastic and effective in online teaching.

In order to be considered for Phi Theta Kappa, students must achieve a 3.5 overall GPA and maintain a 3.25 GPA throughout their college career.

The concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 28 is free and open to the public.

��Ӱֱ�� State is committed to increasing awareness about the importance of clean energy.

According to the photographer, Kyle Reynolds, “It’s Out There” includes a sampling of the wide-ranging subjects he has photographed over the past decade. Subjects include local shelter dogs, wildlife, plant life, and photography captured while trail running.

A total of 105 employers were on-hand for the 2019 ��Ӱֱ�� campus career fair, compared to 92 employers in the spring of 2018, and 73 employers in 2017. As for the Wellsville campus’ spring career fair, 91 employers attended in 2019, compared to 80 in 2018 and 68 in 2017.

Dr. Gary Lounsberry, a professor emeritus of ��Ӱֱ�� State College, was recently presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who’s Who, the world’s premier publisher of biographical profiles.

About 175 ��Ӱֱ�� State College and 50 ��Ӱֱ�� University students volunteered recently to make a difference in their surrounding communities during the annual Spring Into Action Day of Service.

Led by students, the events will focus on sustainability and increasing awareness about this topic across campus. All events are free and open to the public.

April is Financial Literacy Month, which coincides with one of the busiest times of the academic year. As students and professors prepare for final projects, exams, and graduation, finances are often the last thing on people’s minds.

Whether it’s building a zero-energy home for the Solar Decathlon or installing a solar array at the US National Arboretum, ��Ӱֱ�� State College (ASC) students are learning about the importance of “going green” through many different applied learning experiences.

Dr. Edward Tezak, a SUNY distinguished service professor emeritus of ��Ӱֱ�� State College, was recently recognized by the Allegany County Board of Legislators for his 30-year career in the military.

“We were very happy with the turnout,” Peavey said. “We were asked by the schools attending to offer this annually, so we may look to increase it in size next year.”

Tickets are $2 for students and $7 for general admission. To purchase tickets, please stop by the first floor of the Central Dining Hall on the ��Ӱֱ�� campus on weekdays from now through April 12 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and 3-6 p.m. daily.

“I was impressed with how the students were so dedicated to helping,” she said. “The students were eager to get their hands dirty and make an impact on the community. As students who are familiar with hands-on learning, they jumped right into the tasks they were assigned on day one," said Amy Miller.

Doors for the event will open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now at the Campus Store in the Student Leadership Center for $12 for the general public and $5 for students.
