Thanks to another amazing show of support from alumni, faculty, staff, and friends, ��Ӱֱ�� State College (ASC) was able to raise $218,439 this year during its fifth annual Day of Giving.

The work took place on the West Almond Trail System along trails 1, 2, and 6 and involved removing limbs, sticks, and other debris, as well as placing new trail markers. 

“This upcoming year will be our third year, and last year every one of our recruits was hired,” Wendy Dresser-Recktenwald said. “That is a good testament to our program and the work that our instructors, advisory group, and leadership are doing.”

The lessons learned from this fall’s successful semester have helped to shape ASC’s plan for offering in-person instruction again for the spring semester.

Dr. Alex Bitterman, a professor in the Architecture and Design Department at ��Ӱֱ�� State College (ASC), was recently quoted in a National Geographic article about the importance of disaster “prepping.”

Under the guidance of Instructor Scott Hillman, 16 HVAC students installed an entire plumbing system at a newly built house on Clark Street in Wellsville.

“My wife and I are investing in ��Ӱֱ�� State College scholarships for today’s hard-working students to allow them to continue their education,” Barber said.

��Ӱֱ�� State Assistant Professor Holly Chase was recently profiled in an online article by the Institute of Management Accountants.

On the morning of Saturday, Oct. 31, the brothers were able to accomplish many tasks for the church, assisting with raking leaves/leaf blowing, power washing, and carrying items that were no longer needed out to the garage.

ASC has chosen to shift classes and labs to a fully remote format effective Monday, Nov. 23. At that time, faculty will be permitted to teach synchronous classes at the same time as currently scheduled but through remote delivery.

Mike Price, owner of Heritage Outdoor Sports in Phelps, recently assisted the ��Ӱֱ�� State Archery Team by providing much-needed stands in advance of the spring outdoor season.

For students looking to enter any number of in-demand science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) fields, ��Ӱֱ�� State is rated an excellent choice by several online ranking resources.

More than $4 million in merit-based scholarships will be given to ��Ӱֱ�� State students in the fall of 2021, including those awarded through the college’s new Merit Scholarship Program.

Erland “Erkie” Kailbourne decided to give to the Major Gifts Campaign because he knows first-hand the value of an ASC education.

Jim Burdic, whose son, Koji, is a first-year student at ��Ӱֱ�� State, saw a unique opportunity to support the team by coordinating the activity to upgrade a critical piece of the team’s core equipment.

Startup Allegany hosted the first Tri-Collegiate Think Tank on Saturday, Nov. 7, surpassing expectations with over 30 students from Allegany County’s three institutions of higher education participating.  

This year’s event, which will take place Wednesday, Nov. 18, is looking to raise $200,000 and help fill the college’s on-campus food pantry. Each and every donation makes an impact on current and future students, with gifts benefiting scholarships, programming, athletics, new technology, food insecurity, and so much more.

To help students prepare for the move to remote instruction, ��Ӱֱ�� State College has sent them a checklist that includes tips and advice.

��Ӱֱ�� State College (ASC) is ranked in the top 10 in the nation among all US schools offering three majors within the arts and sciences.

��Ӱֱ�� State alumnus Jacob Nohai was recently featured in an article by the Epoch Times titled, “Hard Work and Dirty Jobs Afford Plenty of Opportunity.”

Registration for Winter Session begins Nov. 16 and must be paid and processed by 4 p.m. Dec. 21 in order to gain a seat in the course.

Startup Allegany, a county-wide partnership focused on building a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem in Allegany County, announced Monday that they will host a virtual Tri-Collegiate Think Tank on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020.
