��Ӱֱ�� State Interim Assistant Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Afua Boahene and Coordinator of BIPOC Scholars and College Transition Specialist Dr. Brian Saltsman celebrated and educated the community about Juneteenth at the ��Ӱֱ�� Farmers Market on Sunday.

��Ӱֱ�� State’s Katie Petix (Bloomfield, NY) was recognized with the Simultaneous Award in the competition for her entry “A Place to Dwell.” Petix’s proposal, recently featured in Architype, the digital magazine of AIA Connecticut, was located on the Bay of Naples, Italy, and was comprised of “six 600 square foot homes woven into a multi-story model of elegant efficiency.”

On June 19, 1865, enslaved Americans in Texas were told they were free. Juneteenth, a celebration of this event, has long been celebrated by the African American community and was signed into law in 2021.

��Ӱֱ�� State’s Sandy Burdick, Timothy Dickerson, Daniel Foster, and Dan Jardine were honored with Pioneer Awards at the annual Recognition Celebration.

��Ӱֱ�� State Director of Accounting and Controls Peter McClain and Professor and Coordinator of the Construction Management program Dr. Reza Yadollahi were the recipients of the Leadership through Civic Engagement award.
