÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥

In addition to being an ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State faculty member, Jess is also a family nurse practitioner, a member of her local fire and emergency services department, an adviser to the Hope for Health Club, and so much more. She eagerly gives of her time, talents, and knowledge to so many others, touching lives and making a positive change wherever she goes.

Linda Panter, a longtime UUP member, professor emeritus of nursing at ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State, and chapter vice president for academics, wanted to help her students support each other. So, she set up a discussion board through her students’ final course, and invited them to exchange ideas, experiences, and concerns.

At a time when the world has people spinning their wheels, full of uncertainty, and wondering what’s next, two ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College (ASC) employees are setting an example by volunteering for the good of their communities. 

As the need for more medical workers in New York State continues to grow due to the coronavirus, ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College (ASC) Nursing Department faculty members are stepping up to answer the call of duty locally at area hospitals and other healthcare facilities.

Students within ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College’s various health-focused programs were able to meet with many employers recently during a nursing and medical-related career fair. 

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College recently honored Daniel Woolston, assistant director of Health and Wellness Services, and Jessica Lippa, assistant professor of Nursing, with the Leadership through Civic Engagement Award.

During the scholarship award presentation at ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State, the students were presented with Forty & Eight emblem training pins.

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College (ASC) nursing students in the Hope for Health Club will once again be providing some much-needed medical aid to residents of Haiti when they travel to the country this coming May.

Elaine Morsman, director of the Career Development Center at ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State, noted that the demand for employees in these fields is stronger than ever, and that ASC is well-suited to help meet that demand. 

In December, Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed legislation that requires future registered nurse (RN) graduates of associate degree and diploma nursing programs to finish a baccalaureate completion program in nursing within 10 years after initial licensure in New York State.
