Jason Durst (Gates Chili) scored the game-winner as the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College men's soccer team downed SUNY Delhi 2-1 in their season opener.Ìý Durst's scored on a header after a corner kick by Justin Handley (Iroquois) during the first overtime session.

Pioneers Open New Stadium with High Hopes

Darling, Cox, and Van Gorder to be inducted into Athletic Hall of Fame

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College athletic department will induct the 2008 Hall of Fame class during ceremonies on Friday September 12 as part of Homecoming activities.  Softball/basketball player Toni Darling (Johnston), bowler Gerry Cox, and baseball player Joe Van Gorder will join the 43 current members of the Hall of Fame.

Athletes Begin to Report this Week

The 2008-09 ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College athletic season kicks off this week as preseason camps open in preparation for the fall seasons.Ìý Football, volleyball, men's & women's soccer, and baseball will all report to campus and begin practice by Sunday while the cross country team will begin practicing on Tuesday.

Eight Pioneers Earn Academic All-American Honors

Eight ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College athletes have earned NJCAA Academic All-Americans for excellence in the classroom.Ìý Cal Ayers (Letchworth), Keenan Hall (Monticello), Kaila Smith (÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ Almond), Dustin Falkner (Letchworth), and Gallaway Longenecker (Manheim, PA) were all named Distinguished Academica All-Americans while Kevin Underhill (Somers), Paul Farrell (St. Francis), and Sarah Palmiter (÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ Almond) were named All-American.

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State to host Summer Camps

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College is getting prepared to host the annual summer sports festival.Ìý The 2008 version of the sports festival will include the 27th annual day camp and the 40th learn to swim program.Ìý ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State coaches will also be sponsoring camps in Basketball, Volleyball, and Soccer.

Jerome Named WNYAC Co-Freshman of the Year

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College volleyball player Jenni Jerome (Syracuse/Westhill) has been named the Western New York Athletic Conference co-female freshman athlete of the year.Ìý Jerome helped the Lady Pioneers to the National Championship Tournament and a 36-6 record.
