Q & A with Alex Curran

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College sophomore Alex Curran (Williamson) has recorded four assists for the men's soccer team thus far.  Curran, a two-sport athlete at ASC (soccer & track and field), sat down and answered a few questions about the 2008 soccer team and life as a college athlete.

Pioneers down Lakers

The #13 ranked ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College men's soccer team won their 3rd straight contest on Thursday afternoon by defeating #12 Finger Lakes CC 3-2.  With the win the Pioneers improve to 4-1 while the Lakers suffer their first defeat and fall to 4-1.

Men's Soccer Ranked #13

After a quick 3-1 start the men's soccer team has earned the #13 ranking in the first NJCAA Division III poll of the regular season.  The Pioneers have outscored opponents 14 to 9 on the season and 11 to 5 in their last two victories.

Volleyball Ranked #7

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College volleyball team is ranked #7 in the first NJCAA Division III poll of the 2008.  The Lady Pioneers are currently 5-0 after winning the Mohawk Valley CC Tournament last Saturday.

Lady Pioneers suffer first defeat

Tompkins Cortland CC scored three goals in the final 16 minutes of the contest to down ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State 4-1 in a Region III Division III match-up played under the lights in Dryden.  The Lady Pioneers are now 2-1 on the year while TCCC improves to 2-3.

Hewitt Signs with Toronto

Former ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College and University of Arkansas football player Matt Hewitt (Englewood, NJ) has signed a contract with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League.  Hewitt was one of nine players signed by the team today.

Cross Country Ranked #9

Both the men's and women's cross country teams at ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State are ranked #9 in the NJCAA Division III poll.  The Pioneers open up the regular season on Saturday when they host the annual ASC Invitational.

Washburn earns NFC Special Teams Honor

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College punter/tight end Preston Washburn (Dundee) has been named the Northeast Football Conference co-special teams player of the week.  Washburn had a solid game in the Pioneers 21-14 victory over Stevens Tech on Saturday afternoon.

Binder Named Region III Male Athlete of the Week

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College soccer player Kyle Binder (Hornell) has been named the Region III Male Athlete of the Week after helping the Pioneers to two victories this past week.  ASC defeated Genesee CC 6-5 on Thursday at home and then downed Broome CC 5-0 on Saturday.
