The Communications Office of ��Ӱֱ�� State College has recently been notified that its admissions promotional marketing materials captured a coveted Platinum Award in the recent MarCom award competition. Additionally, the ��Ӱֱ�� State College Web site/home page garnered an honorable mention.

The Hinkle Memorial Library Gallery will mount an exhibit -- “Gen/reVision” (two generations of art) -- by Craig Prophet and his son Cameron, both of ��Ӱֱ��.

The exhibit, consisting of paintings and photography, will open Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, and run through the end of the fall semester, Dec. 15. There will be an opening reception Oct. 29 from 2-4 p.m.

Human services management students at ��Ӱֱ�� State College recently conducted the first meeting of S.O.S. (Student Organization for Service). The meeting was organized by BS in human services management students, but is open to any ASC student.

A panel of local business and education leaders presented their ideas on how education and business can work together to increase the number of business start-ups in New York State, and what role, in particular, SUNY (State University of New York) can play in that plan.

Nick Wooderk, Allegany, an automotive service technician freshman, and Mathew Mercadante, Delhi, an automotive parts technology freshman were the honored recipients.

��Ӱֱ�� State College and National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH), a non-academic honor society consisting of the top 1% of student leaders, announces the winners of September’s “Of The Month” (OTM) Awards:

ABET’s (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) Academic Advisory Council provides a formal means for the academic community to share its perspective, give advice, and communicate with the ABET leadership in such areas as accreditation; issues related to applied science, computing, engineering, and technology education; and feedback on proposed programs, procedures and policies relating to higher education.

��Ӱֱ�� State College will host “Dr. Z,” aka Dr. Stephen Zawistowski, PhD, CAAB (certified applied animal behaviorist) executive vice president, nation programs science adviser to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, NYC, who will speak on “Companion Animals in Society,” Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, 7 p.m., at the College’s Lake Lodge, Terbury Road, ��Ӱֱ��. His presentation is open to the public free of charge. Attendees are encouraged to bring a donation for local animal shelters.

The Admissions Office at ��Ӱֱ�� State College announces an Open House program, Saturday, Nov. 13, beginning with registration at 8:30 a.m. in the Orvis Activities Center on the ��Ӱֱ�� campus.
