Lacrosse Downs Mercyhurst

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College lacrosse team improved to 8-2 heading into the final week of the regular season following a 19-8 victory over Mercyhurst North East.  The Pioneers led 9-5 at half but put the game out of reach by outscoring the Saints 7 to 1 in the 3rd quarter.

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College softball team concluded a busy week with a doubleheader sweep of Jefferson CC, 5-3 and 3-2, on Sunday afternoon.  The Lady Pioneers are now 11-12 overall on the year and 8-4 in Region III play.

Mercyhurst North East pitching limited ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College to just six hits in a doubleheader sweep on Saturday afternoon in North East, PA.  The Lady Saints won the opener 13-0 and the nightcap 2-0 to improve to 20-11 on the year and 7-1 in WNYAC play while the Pioneers are now 9-12.

Behind a strong start the #10 ranked ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College lacrosse team downed Finger Lakes CC 20-14 in a Region III contest played at Pioneer Stadium on Friday afternoon.  ASC jumped out to a 13-6 lead at halftime en route to the victory that improves the team to 7-2 on the year.

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College lacrosse team has climbed into the NJCAA Division III National Poll for the first time in 2009.  ASC debuts in this week's poll at the #10 spot.

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College baseball team split a back and forth home doubleheader with Niagara CCC on Tuesday.  The Pioneers won the opener 7-6 but fell 9-6 in the nightcap.  ASC is now 13-12 on the year while NCCC is 21-3.

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College lacrosse team fell behind early and never could fully recover in a 12-10 loss to Monroe CC.  The Pioneers see their four game winning streak end and are now 6-2 on the year while the Tribunes registered their fourth straight victory and improve to 7-4.

Two days after sweeping Monroe CC in ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ on Thursday, the Pioneers fell in both halves of their Region III Division II doubleheader in the strong winds on Saturday.  MCC improved to 14-13 (2-2 RIII DII) with 16-3 and 12-2 victories while ASC falls to 12-11 (2-2 RIII DII).

Alex Curran (Williamson) and David Gross (Brockport) led the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College track and field team in competition on Saturday at Roberts Wesleyan.  The Pioneers got back in action after over two weeks off after poor weather cancelled events at U of R and Houghton College.

In their home opener the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College baseball team swept rival Monroe CC in their first Region III Division II contests of the season.  The Pioneers won the opener 3-2 on a walk-off single and then won the nightcap 10-5.

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College lacrosse team netted their third straight victory 19-4 over Cayuga CC on Tuesday afternoon.  Eight Pioneers found the back of the net as the team improved to 5-1 on the season.

Both the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College men's and women's track and field teams continue to sit in the top ten of the latest NJCAA Division III poll.  The men are currently ranked 5th while the women are 8th.

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College won their 6th straight contest and improved to 10-9 on the season with a doubleheader sweep of Northampton CC.  The Pioneers won the opener 5-0 and the nightcap 5-3.

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College baseball inched closer to .500 with a doubleheader sweep of Lehigh Carbon CC on Saturday afternoon.  The Pioneers battled high winds all day as the won the opener 12-2 and the nightcap 5-2 in eight innings.  ASC is now 8-9 on the season.

This weekend's scheduled track and field meet at the University of Rochester has been cancelled.  ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State was scheduled to compete on Saturday but the meet was moved to Sunday and cancelled this morning.
