The ��Ӱֱ�� State College football team used big plays to jump out to an early lead over Buffalo State JV en route to a 41-27 victory in their 2009 home opener.  The Pioneers improve to 2-1 on the season.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College athletic hall of fame will induct five new members on September 25^th during Homecoming weekend.  Basketball player Tom Hirsch, football player Chris Gray, baseball player Eric Baker, and cross country athletes Andy Coots and Gary Redding will become the newest members of the hall of fame.  The athletic department will also be honoring the 1984 cross country team.

The Admissions Office at ��Ӱֱ�� State College announces an Open House program, Saturday, Oct. 24, beginning with registration at 8:30 a.m. in the Orvis Activities Center on the ��Ӱֱ�� campus.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College baseball team rallied in both halves of a non-conference doubleheader versus Penn Tech on Sunday afternoon.  ASC won the opener 7-3 with seven unanswered runs and won the nightcap, 6-5, with two runs in the 7th.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College women's soccer team extended their unbeaten streak to six games to start the 2009 season with a 2-1 victory over Mercyhurst North East.  The Lady Pioneers are now 4-0-2 on the season.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College men's soccer team won their second straight and third in their last four games with a 1-0 victory over Mercyhurst North East on Saturday.  The Pioneers improve to 3-4 on the season.

Both the ��Ӱֱ�� State men's and women's cross country teams fared well at the Finger Lakes Invitational on Saturday.  The men finished 2nd and the women 3rd out of seven teams.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College baseball team split a WNYAC doubleheader with Monroe CC in Rochester on Saturday.  ASC fell 8-3 in the opener but rebounded for a 4-2 victory in game two.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College women's soccer team downed Jamestown CC 1-0 to run their season opening unbeaten streak to five games.  The Lady Pioneers are now 3-0-2 on the season.

Masanari Yamamoto (Tokyo, Japan) scored a second half goal as the ��Ӱֱ�� State College men's soccer team downed Corning CC 1-0 on Thursday afternoon.  The Pioneers improve to 2-4 (2-3 in Region III Division III games) on the season.

Students enrolled in the Culinary Arts Department at ��Ӱֱ�� State College’s School of Applied Technology Campus, Wellsville, will hold a community bake sale Friday, Oct. 9 AND Saturday, Oct. 10, at the entrance of the student dining hall of the Culinary Arts Building, from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. and 12:30-3:30 p.m., respectively.

The Culinary Arts Department, School of Applied Technology, ��Ӱֱ�� State College, will hold a “Viva Italia” spaghetti dinner in the Culinary Arts Building on the Wellsville campus, Thursday, Oct. 8, from 5-7 p.m. Cost of the dinner is $11 per person; cost for children 10 and under is $5. Proceeds will benefit the Top Hat Scholarship Fund.

Local eateries will once again participate in ��Ӱֱ�� State College’s fourth annual “Taste of Wellsville” this year, Saturday, Oct. 10, from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Restaurants and other food purveyors will showcase their tasty signature dishes in “miniature form” at stations around the Applied Technology Campus in Wellsville.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat Monroe CC 3-2 in a WNYAC match-up in Rochester on Tuesday evening.  ASC won the first game 25-21 but fell 17-25 and 16-25 to fall in a hole before battling back for 25-22 and 15-12 wins.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College men's soccer team played tough versus NJCAA Division I Bryant & Stratton but could not find the back of the net in a 2-0 loss on Tuesday evening at Pioneer Stadium.  The loss drops the Pioneers to 1-4 on the year.

For the second straight contest, the ��Ӱֱ�� State College women's soccer team battled to a tie.  Tuesday, ASC and Bryant & Stratton played to a 1-1 tie.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College athletic department has chosen women's soccer goalie Mo Parks (Avoca) and men's cross country runner Joe Seitz (Williamsville) as the athletes of the week.

��Ӱֱ�� State College punter Jeff Glomb (Buffalo/St. Francis) has been named the Northeast Football Conference special teams player of the week.  Glomb is the second straight Pioneer to be honored by the NFC.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College cross country teams are both in the NJCAA Division III top ten.  The men are rankd 3rd while the women are tied for 7th.

Karen M. Young, associate professor and chair of the Computerized Design and Manufacturing Department of ��Ӱֱ�� State College, has been elected chair of that body’s Faculty Senate. The chair is elected for a two-year term and may serve two consecutive terms.

��Ӱֱ�� State College students of years past may remember long cafeteria lines where white-clad women ladled portions of sometimes unidentifiable food onto their plates as they passed chafing dishes holding pre-cooked breakfasts, lunches, and dinners.

Both the men's and women's cross country teams at ��Ӱֱ�� State College were victorious at the annual ASC Invitational.  The women scored a 10 and the men a 29.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College men's soccer was able to get the offense going and downed Jefferson CC 2-0 to register their first victory of the 2009 season.  ASC is now 1-3 on the season.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College volleyball team finished 1-2 at the Mohawk Valley CC Tournament on Saturday.  The Lady Pioneers defeated Herkimer CCC 2-0 (25-16, 25-20), fell 2-0 to Niagara CCC (16-25, 21-25), and lost a heartbreaker to SUNY Delhi 2-1 (22-25, 25-19, 13-15).

��Ӱֱ�� State College and Jefferson CC battled 110 minutes with neither team able to find the back of the net.  The Lady Pioneers are now 2-0-1 on the season and have yet to allow a goal.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College baseball team dropped a pair of 1-0 decisions at Niagara CCC this afternoon. NCCC scored the winning run in the 6th in the opener and in the 7th in the nightcap.

In a defensive battle, Erie CC was able to down ��Ӱֱ�� State College 10-6 in the Northeast Football Conference opener for both teams.  ECC improves to 1-1 (1-0 NFC) while ASC falls to 1-1 (0-1 NFC).

Dr. Richard Kellogg, professor of psychology, ��Ӱֱ�� State College, participated in an Open House at the historic Higgins-Ballard-Wylie home in Rushford, Sept. 6, 2009.  The current owner of the home, Ronald Beverly, played the role of NYS Gov. Frank Higgins, who was born in the home and spent his early years in Rushford.
