��Ӱֱ�� State College students enrolled in Assistant Professor Evan Enke’s , went live Dec. 10, 2009.

��Ӱֱ�� State College students enrolled in the baccalaureate-level Grants, Contracts, and Organizational Advancement, an inaugural course in the recently established human services management program.

��Ӱֱ�� State College and National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH), a non-academic honor society consisting of the top 1% of student leaders, announces the winners of November’s “Of The Month” (OTM) Awards.

Awardees include:

��Ӱֱ�� State College’s WINS Club (Women in Non-traditional Studies--though membership is open to all students) recently conducted its annual fund raiser to buy presents for a local family sponsored by Steuben Rural Ministry of Canisteo. Clothing donations were also received from the ��Ӱֱ�� State community.

The SkillsUSA Club members of ��Ӱֱ�� State College’s School of Applied Technology recently conducted a food and gift drive for the soldiers fighting overseas. Members placed collection boxes in each department on campus and collected and mailed nine boxes of foodstuffs and other items.

��Ӱֱ�� State College has announced that it has received an estate gift of approximately $121,000 from Dorothy and Lester Reynolds. The Reynolds designated that the gift be used to establish a prize to be awarded annually to the student demonstrating the greatest achievement in the field of mathematics.

Lakeland (OH) CC won a hard fought 60-48 contest over ��Ӱֱ�� State as the Pioneers close out the 2009 portion of their season.  ASC heads into the winter break with a 6-9 mark.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College women's basketball team couldn't overcome 31 turnovers in a 95-69 loss to Lakeland (OH) CC.  The Lady Pioneers finish the 2009 portion of their season with a 8-6 mark.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College men's basketball team couldn't hand ASA (Brooklyn) their first loss of the season.  The Pioneers (6-8) fell 97-63 to the Avengers in a contest played at Genesee CC.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College wrestling team fell 34-12 to Niagara CCC in a WNYAC dual match on Friday evening.  The Pioneers are now 1-2-1 (1-1-1 WNYAC) on the season heading into the holiday break.

Smiles were the order du jour as ��Ӱֱ�� State College and ACES (Auxiliary Campus Enterprises and Services) officials and contractors cut the ribbon at the new Terrace Dining Room at the Central Dining Hall on the ��Ӱֱ�� campus.

Although ��Ӱֱ�� State College can be justifiably proud of its diverse and tasty student dining experience, does that automatically equate to customer satisfaction? Happily, the answer to that question is a resounding yes!

Electrician, Computer and Robotics Technician Department, ��Ӱֱ�� State College, recently presented at NYSERDA’s (New York State Energy Research and Development Authority) national conference, “PV [photovoltaic] and Wind:  Train the Trainer,” which focused on new ideas in educating a work force in renewable energy and energy efficiency.

��Ӱֱ�� State College faculty and staff enhanced their own holiday spirit by contributing toys, hats, gloves, and scarves as their “admission” to the college’s annual holiday party.

��Ӱֱ�� State College freshman Eric Shedden (Canton, PA) won the 141 lb. weight class at the Niagara CCC Open on Saturday to lead the Pioneers.  Dan Steiger (Miller Place) finished 3rd at 174 lbs and Ben Hoffman (Gouveneur) was 6th in the heavyweight competition.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College swimming team finished 10th at the three-day Fredonia Invitational.  The Lady Pioneers scored 73 points while the men's team scored 66 points.

Lakeland (OH) CC hit 26 of 43 foul shot attempts en route to a 84-68 victory over ��Ӱֱ�� State in the finals of the Lakeland Tournament.  The Lady Pioneers fall to 8-5 on the season with one game remaining in 2009.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College men's basketball team fell 75-61 to CC of Beaver County in the consolation game of the Lakeland (OH) CC Tournament.  ASC falls to 6-7 on the year.

Four Lady Pioneers finished in double figures as the ��Ӱֱ�� State College women's basketball team advanced to the Lakeland (OH) CC Tournament final with a 74-42 victory over Glen Oaks (MI) CC.  The victory improves ASC to 8-4 on the year.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College men's basketball team fell behind early and never could climb out of the whole in their first round contest of the Lakeland (OH) CC Tournament versus Glen Oaks (MI) CC.  The Pioneers fall to 6-6 on the year following the 85-71 loss.

Brittney Brook (Elmira Free) scored 28 points as the ��Ӱֱ�� State College women's basketball team downed Houghton JV 66-37 to improve to 7-4 on the year.

Now that the cold weather has begun to set in, we typically reach for warm and cozy garb to defend ourselves from the chill of wintry days and nights. Some of the warmest clothing we select is made of wool—knitted (or crocheted), carded, spun, shorn from those most docile of animals, the sheep. But how does that curly fiber shorn from those sheep become the warm sweater we pull from our shelf?

Students enrolled in ��Ӱֱ�� State College’s Building Trades programs responded to a request from Marsha Patrick, director of the Head Start Program for Steuben and Yates Counties, for a wheelchair ramp that was needed at its facility on Main Street in Hornell.

Dr. John O. Hunter, president emeritus of ��Ӱֱ�� State College (1986-93), met with members of the ��Ӱֱ�� State College Honors Program recently to address “the power of poetry.”

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College men's basketball team defeated Finger Lakes CC 57-53 to win their third straight contest.  The victory also helps the Pioneers climb over .500 for the second time in the season with a 6-5 mark.

Finger Lakes CC built a 10-point halftime lead, 41-31, and withstood an ��Ӱֱ�� State College rally in a 77-71 victory.  The Lady Pioneers fall to 6-4 on the season.
