The women's 4 x 800 relay team won a regional championship on Friday in day one of the Region III Championships held at SUNY Delhi.

��Ӱֱ�� State College students enrolled in the digital media and animation program will host the second annual Digital Media & Animation Senior Showcase on Saturday, May 8, at 2 p.m. in the Engineering Lecture Hall (room 215) at ��Ӱֱ�� State College.

In late April, the ��Ӱֱ�� State College Pioneer Woodsmen’s Club sent two teams, a Men’s and a Jack and Jill, to their second competition, the 64^th Annual Spring Meet Conclave at Paul Smith’s College, in Adirondack State Park. The Spring Meet is the collegiate woodsmen’s equivalent of the Super Bowl.

��Ӱֱ�� State and Mercyhurst North East split a Region III Division II doubleheader on Thursday.  The Saints won a wild opener 11-9 while the Pioneers used a strong pitching performance to win game two, 8-1.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College softball team fell 11-5 and 8-0 to Corning CC in their regular season home finale.  The losses were the first this season at home and drop ASC to 10-14 (7-10 Region III Division III).

��Ӱֱ�� State College student academic achievement was celebrated last week during the 26^th annual Honors Convocation. ASC President Dr. John M. Anderson welcomed the gathered students, families, faculty, and friends and congratulated them on their achievements.

��Ӱֱ�� State College employees once again participated in the annual Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work^® Day in April. This event is open to employees’ children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews between the ages of nine and 15; this year, 25 children participated.

��Ӱֱ�� State College’s heavy equipment operations program and Admar Supply (a construction equipment and supply company) recently hosted the first ever Admar Municipal Day on the Wellsville Campus.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College softball team struggled and were fell in a Region III Division II doubleheader at Broome CC.  BCC earned the sweep with 20-3 and 8-0 victories.

��Ӱֱ�� State College’s CAL (Collegiate Agricultural Leaders) Club recently hosted its fifth annual dairy consignment sale and silent auction in the livestock pavilion at the college farm. ASC agriculture alumni and registered dairy breeders from across New York State consigned calves and heifers to support this major fund-raising event for CAL Club.

��Ӱֱ�� State College’s surveying engineering technology program received a visit from Topcon Positioning Systems representatives who hosted a demonstration of Topcon equipment incorporating the latest technology in the land surveying field, including Global Positioning System (GPS), laser scanners, and integrated robotic total stations. ��Ӱֱ�� State sophomore outfielder Jake Dale (Keshequa) has been named the Region III male athlete of the week.  Dale hit .464 this past week in eight games for the Pioneers.

Today's ��Ӱֱ�� State baseball game at Finger Lakes CC has been cancelled due to the wet weather the area has been experiencing the past 48 hours.  No make-up date has been announced.

��Ӱֱ�� State's Eddie Sparks (Horseheads) and Steven Hickey (Rochester/Aquinas) earned the Pioneers six points at the Region III decathlon championships the past two days.  Sparks finished 4th in the competition while Hickey was 8th.

��Ӱֱ�� State will host a "Hoops for Haiti" charity basketball event on Wednesday, April 28th at the Orvis Activities Center.  The proceeds from this event will be donated the group of 21 students that will head to Haiti after the spring semester ends to assist in the rebuilding process.

The College purchased plants using a $1,000 donation by BP (British Petroleum), which was made on behalf of AR, a BP-affiliated company. BP employees and consultants from the project joined the College in the planting effort.

Mike Ronan, ��Ӱֱ�� State College associate professor, Automotive Trades, School of Applied Technology, hosted a seminar for ��Ӱֱ�� State Honors Program members at the senior auto shop in April. Ronan, a certified Rolls-Royce mechanic and transmission specialist, explained “How (Not) to Kill Your Car” and demonstrated common, often costly mistakes car owners commit.<

Dr. Steven Tyrell, vice president for student affairs at ��Ӱֱ�� State College recently presented the Freshman Advocate Award, to Automotive Trades Department, during the College’s 26^th Honors Convocation ceremony.

Four ��Ӱֱ�� State College students were recently inducted into the college’s chapter of the Psi Beta National Honor Society in psychology for two-year colleges.

Several ��Ӱֱ�� State College students were recently inducted into Chi Alpha Epsilon (XAE), a national honor society for full-time students who have entered college through any developmental or opportunity program.

Nearly 900 two- and four-year graduates, their families, professors, and friends will be on hand Sunday, May 16 at noon, as ��Ӱֱ�� State College honors its 99th graduating class. Commencement exercises are scheduled to be held at McLane Center on neighboring ��Ӱֱ�� University campus. Graduates will need to use the tickets in their graduation packets for their families’ admission.

��Ӱֱ�� State College has received a gift of $50,000 from Laverne (’56) and Mary Lou Billings of Boynton Beach, FL, to support equipment purchases for the heavy equipment operations program.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College BUV (basic utility vehicle) team returned to prominence by winning first place in the Main Division of the 10^th Annual National Basic Utility Vehicle Competition in Indianapolis, IN.

��Ӱֱ�� State scored the first 11 goals and led 17-1 at halftime as they capped their season with a 23-3 victory over Tompkins Cortland CC.  The Pioneers finish 5-9 overall and 5-7 in Region III play.

The scheduled baseball and softball doubleheader for Sunday April 25th have been washed out.  The baseball team was scheduled to play Onondaga CC and no make-up date has been announced while the softball team was scheduled to play Tompkins Cortland CC and will now play on May 8th beginning at 1 p.m.

��Ӱֱ�� State and Monroe CC split a high scoring Region III Division II baseball doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.  Monroe won the opener 12-7 while ��Ӱֱ�� won the nightcap 9-6.
