Pioneers Down Cayuga 9-8

The 魅影直播 State lacrosse team recorded their second straight win with a 9-8 victory over Cayuga CC in a Region III contest on Wednesday.  The Pioneers are now 5-8 on the season and 4-7 in RIII play.

Students Receive SUNY Chancellor鈥檚 Award for Student Excellence

Two 魅影直播 State graduating seniors 鈥 Amanda Bush of Altoona, PA, and Masanari Yamamoto of Tokyo, Japan 鈥 have been named State University of New York Chancellor鈥檚 Award for Student Excellence recipients for 2012.

Alumni Choral Spring Concert Scheduled

This year鈥檚 concert will also serve to dedicate the Anthony C. Cappadonia Auditorium, honoring Cappadonia鈥檚 56 years of teaching and directing instrumental and choral groups at 魅影直播 State. A ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1:15 p.m. will precede the performance, and the official dedication will occur during the concert鈥檚 intermission.

Pioneers and Red Barons Split Wild Doubleheader

魅影直播 State and Corning CC battled in a Region III Division III doubleheader that featured more twists and turns than a mystery novel.  The Pioneers (5-23, 4-12) walked off with a 9-8 victory in game one while the Red Barons (7-15, 4-10) took game two 7-6 behind a solo homer in the top of the 9th.

New Horizons Forum Presentation on ALS

ALS, also called 鈥淟ou Gehrig鈥檚 Disease,鈥 is a fatal neurodegenerative disease for which there is no known cause or cure. The forum will be held at 6:30 p.m. in Room 215 of the Engineering Technology Building and is open to the public. A reception will be held at 6 p.m. in the lobby of the Engineering Technology Building.

Nagle Finishes 2nd, Franchina 3rd at Region III Multi

魅影直播 State multi athletes Travis Nagle (Randolph) and Kayla Franchina (Cassadaga Valley) etched their name into the record book with solid showings at the Region III Decathlon and Heptathlon. Nagle was 2nd in the two-day event while Franchina was 3rd.

The 魅影直播 State softball team rebounded from an opening game loss at Jefferson CC (L 10-0) to win 4-3 in the second game of the Region III Division III doubleheader.

The 魅影直播 State men's track & field team finished 6th out of 16 teams at the University of Rochester Alumni Invitational.  The women's team was 14th out of 16.

Rapan Delivers Game Winning Hit

Brett Rapan (Bolivar Richburg) singled home Kiele Wilson (Bath Haverling) in the 7th inning to break a 4-4 tie en route to a 魅影直播 State 6-4 victory over Broome CC on Friday afternoon. The Pioneers clinched the series with the victory and finish the year 3-1 vs. the Hornets.

Lady Pioneers Play Wild Doubleheader

The 魅影直播 State softball team played in a wild doubleheader at Genesee CC on Thursday. Genesee used a big five-run 5th inning in the first game to race to a 13-5 victory. In the nightcap, the Lady Pioneers scored seven runs in the 6th to tie the game at 11-11 but lost in heartbreaking style 14-13 in nine innings.

Witchella Named All-American

魅影直播 State women's basketball player Haley Witchella (Oxford Academy) has been named a 2nd team NJCAA Division II All-American. Witchella is the fifth Lady Pioneer since 2007 to earn All-American honors (Brittney Brooks - 2009, Anthia Smith & Tiffany McLaughlin - 2008, and Nichole Tyler - 2007).

Jack Timerson scored with 1:27 remaining to break an 11-11 tie and lift Finger Lakes CC to a 12-11 victory over 魅影直播 State in a key Region III battle. The one-goal loss was the third of the season for the blue & gold.

Track Teams Move up in Poll

The 魅影直播 State track & field teams moved up in the latest NJCAA Division III poll. The men moved up three spots to #3 while the women moved up two to the #4 ranking.

The 魅影直播 State softball team fell 10-0 and 13-4 to Onondaga CC as they opened up the home portion of the 2012 season. The games were played in periodic snow showers, high wind, and low temperatures.

Walks and Errors Cost Pioneers

Onondaga CC took advantage of 13 walks and nine errors in a Region III Division III sweep at 魅影直播 State on Tuesday. The Lazers won the opener 13-1 and the nightcap 6-1 in games that featured snow flurries, high winds, and cold temperatures.

Dr. Doug Pierson, assistant professor in the Agriculture and Veterinary Technology Department at 魅影直播 State, will lead the April New Horizon鈥檚 Forum with an update on the impact that 魅影直播 State students have had on recovery efforts of the Haiti Health Ministries from the devastation of the January 2010 earthquake. 魅影直播 State students will be traveling to Haiti again in May 2012 for the third year in a row.

The 魅影直播 State baseball team gave up three big innings as they were swept by Niagara CCC in a Region III Division III doubleheader.  The Pioneers are now 3-16 (2-7 RIII DIII) on the season following 11-1 and 17-2 losses.

Football and Softball Teams to Host Bone Marrow Drive

For the third year in a row the 魅影直播 State Football and Softball teams will host a Bone Marrow Registry Drive.  The two previous drives have been larger than most in Western New York State and have averaged 130-140 registered with 40% multi-race (minority) registrants.
