Longenecker wins Regional Title

Gallaway Longenecker (Manheim, PA) was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the Northeast/Region III Championships.  He was the lone ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College champion as he won the 133 lb. title.

Pioneers keep Regional Championship Lead

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College indoor track & field team competed in the Region III Championship for the weight throw and the 200 m dash and in the Cornell Open on Saturday in Ithaca.  After three events of the Region III Championship the men and the women are in 1st place.

Pioneers upset Monroe on Buzzer Beater

Fran Lantigua (Jamestown) hit a flying lay-up just before the horn rang as the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College men's basketball team upset #8 Monroe CC in a hard fought, back and forth battle, 68-67.  The win was the first for the Pioneers versus Monroe in Jusianiec's eight years at ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ (19-games).  With the win the Pioneers improve to 16-8 (5-4 WNYAC) while the Tribunes fall to 21-6 (9-2 WNYAC).

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College women's basketball team fell 81-42 to Monroe CC in a WNYAC contest on Saturday afternoon.  The Lady Tribunes improve to 13-6 overall while the Lady Pioneers fall to 14-7 (5-3 WNYAC).

A-State in 1st place after first events of Regionals

Both the men's and women's indoor track and field team have at least a share of 1st place after the first two events of the Region III Championships.

Pioneers Hang Tough but Fall to Erie

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College men's basketball team hung tough with #13 Erie CC in a physical battle on Thursday evening but fell 78-68 to the Kats.  ECC improves to 19-5 (8-1 WNYAC) while ASC drops its third straight and falls to 15-8 (4-4 WNYAC).

Anthia Smith (Elmira Free) recorded another double-double as the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College women's basketball downed Erie CC 70-47 in a WNYAC contest on Thursday.  A-State improves to 14-6 (5-2 WNYAC) while Erie falls to 3-19 (1-7 WNYAC).

Lady Pios edge Jamestown

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College women's basketball team squeezed past Jamestown CC 50-45 in a game where neither team could get the offense going.  ASC improves to 13-6 (4-2 WNYAC) on the year while JCC falls to 12-10.

Pioneers Fall in OT

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College men's basketball team overcame a 17-point halftime deficit and sent the contest into overtime with a Dusty Marshall (Newfield) three-pointer with 2.1 seconds remaining but the Pioneers went ice cold in the overtime session (0 for 10 from the field) and fell 71-61 to Jamestown CC.  The Jayhawks improve to 13-12 on the year while A-State falls to 15-7 (4-3 WNYAC).

Corbett Sets New School Record as Pioneers Tune up for Regionals

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College sophomore swimmer Kaitlyn Corbett (Clarence) set a new school record in teh 100 backstroke as the Pioneers wrapped up the invitational portion of their schedule at the Genesee CC Cougar Winter Classic on Saturday.  Corbett swam a 1:07.86 to win the event and set a new school standard.
