Allegany County Community Action Day, Aug. 28

魅影直播 State College is partnering with several Allegany County human services agencies to conduct an Allegany County Community Action Day, Saturday, Aug. 28, from 9 a.m. 鈥 5 p.m. The day is intended to coordinate volunteer groups and individuals to engage in meaningful, high-impact service projects in the 魅影直播 and Wellsville communities; connect with neighbors, students, and fellow community members while making a difference; and build relationships with local non-profit agencies while actively supporting their missions.

Kellogg Authors in Most Recent Issue of PAPERBACK PARADE

Dr. Richard Kellogg, professor of psychology at 魅影直播 State College, is the author of an article appearing in the most recent issue of PAPERBACK PARADE, a quarterly magazine published by Gryphon Books of New York. Titled 鈥淧hilip Wylie鈥檚 Nuclear Nightmare,鈥 the article states that writer Philip Wylie (1902-1971) was an expert on nuclear energy who wrote extensively about the perils of a global atomic war.
ASC Students Volunteer in Haiti

Dr. Douglas Pierson, (VMD) 魅影直播 State College assistant professor, Agriculture and Veterinary Technology Department, who previously lived and worked as a veterinary field worker in Haiti as part of Christian Veterinary Mission before joining ASC, coordinated a relief trip to Haiti after commencement.
WINS Donates to Area Food Pantries

The WINS Club recently conducted its Spring fund raiser to donate money for perishable items to area food pantries. Three checks totaling $180 were sent to 魅影直播 Station Food Pantry, the Salvation Army in Wellsville, and Steuben Rural Ministry.

ASC's 2009 Graduates Garner Placement/Transfer Record of 99 Percent

Fifty-nine percent of the 鈥09 graduates who responded to the survey are employed, while 40 percent opted to continue their education. One percent remain available for employment. Among those employed, 87 percent are working in jobs related to their college field of study.

ACEC New York Awards Scholarships to Engineering Students in NYS Colleges

魅影直播 State College student Patrick VanHaverbeke, Wellsville, was among 17 high-achieving engineering students attending New York State colleges and universities who will receive $45,000 collectively in scholarship money from member firms of the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York. The individual scholarship awards range from $2,500 to $5,000.

Ed Foundation Funds Work-Grant Program at ASC

The Educational Foundation of 魅影直播, Inc., annually funds up to eight 魅影直播 State College students through its work-grant program, allowing students who are ineligible for work-study funds to find employment on campus. The grant is renewable on an annual basis.
