Pioneers roll past Olean

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College men's basketball team opened up the 2008 portion of their season with a strong performance in a 71-39 victory over JCC-Olean.  Travis Branen (Elmira Free) had a monster game with 22 points and 16 rebounds as the Pioneers won their 4th straight and improved to 12-4 (1-0 WNYAC) on the season. The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College women's basketball team fell 52-50 to Medaille College JV in their first contest of 2008 and their first contest in over a month.  Medaille hit two foul shots in the final ten seconds to break a 50-50 tie. Read Article

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College indoor track & field team started the season off fast with a strong showing at the University of Rochester Invitational.  The Pioneers competed versus 14 different schools in the non-scoring event. Read Article

Men's Swim team remains perfect in Invites, Women finish 4th

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College men's swim team won their fourth invitational title on Saturday as they claimed the Erie CC Invitational crown.  The women's team finished 4th out of six teams. Read Article

Hughson finishes 8th at NYS Championships

Jordan Hughson (Holley) was earned an 8th place finish at the annual New York State Championships this weekend at the University of Buffalo.  As a team, ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State finished 17th overall and 3rd in the NJCAA standings. Read Article

New Baccalaureate Forensic Science Technology Degree Introduced

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College has been granted authority by the State University of New York and the NYS Education Department to offer a new bachelor of science degree in forensic science technology, which will begin accepting students for the fall 2008 semester. Read Article

A-State to Induct Three into Hall of Fame

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College athletic department will induct three new members into the Athletic Hall of Fame on January 26.  Kathryn Stedman (volleyball & softball), Joseba Sarriegui (cross country & track & field), and Mike Brown (baseball) will be inducted at a brunch ceremony in the Allegany Room of Central Dining Hall and then honored in between games of the basketball doubleheader with Jamestown CC the same afternoon. Centennial Ergo Reception

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College alumni, students, faculty, staff, and retirees connected recently at a special "Centennial Poetry Reading" where the alumni centennial issue of Ergo, the campus literary magazine, was officially "unveiled." Read Article
