Blue and Gold win tight one over Niagara

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College men's basketball team overcame a slow start and 23 turnovers to down Niagara County CC 72-68 in a WNYAC contest at the Orvis Activities Center on Thursday evening. With the victory the Blue and Gold improve to 15-5 (4-1 WNYAC) on the season.

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College women's basketball team bounced back from their first WNYAC loss on Tuesday with an impressive 81-31 victory over Niagara County CC on Thursday evening. ASC improves to 12-5 (3-1 WNYAC) with the victory.

McLaughlin Named National Player of the Week

Both Basketball Teams Receving Votes in National Poll

Both the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College men's and women's basketball teams received votes in the NJCAA Division II poll released this morning. This is the first time this season either team has been in the poll.

All five starters on the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College men's basketball team finished in double-figures but Genesee CC hit 12-three pointers en route to a 88-80 victory. ASC falls to 14-5 (3-1 WNYAC) while GCC improves to 8-11.

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College women's basketball team suffered their first WNYAC loss of the season, 73-53, to #10 Genesee CC. The loss drops the Lady Pioneers to 11-5 (2-1 WNYAC) while the Lady Cougars improve to 17-2 overall.
Pioneers compete at Jamestown Open

In their final regular season tournament of the season, the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College wrestling team fared well at the Jamestown CC Open. Fifteen teams competed at the tournament.

Men's Swim Team Wins Again, Women take 3rd

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College men's swim team remained undefeated in invitationals (5th straight invitational title) on Saturday at the Delhi Spring Distance Invitational. The women's team finished 3rd out of seven teams competing.

Andy Omoregie (Gates Chili) had a huge day as the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College indoor track and field team had a strong showing at the Class of '32 Invitational at Colgate University. Omoregie won two events and helped the men to a 3rd place finish out of 12 teams competing. The women's team earned an 8th place finish.

A-State Wins Sixth Straight

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College men's basketball team remained perfect in Western New York Athletic Conference play and won its sixth straight game Saturday, 58-48 over Jamestown CC. With the win the Pioneers improve to 14-4 overall (3-0 WNYAC) while the Jayhawks fall to 10-11 (3-3 WNYAC).

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College women's basketball team hit 37 out of 50 foul shots en route to a 84-71 victory over Jamestown CC in a hard fought physical battle on Saturday afternoon. With the victory A-State improves to 11-4 (2-0 WNYAC) while JCC falls to 11-8 (2-3 WNYAC).

Dan Foley (Irondequoit) led ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State to a big WNYAC victory over Mercyhurst North East, 80-78, on Thursday evening. Foley scored a career high 30 points as the Pioneers improve to 13-4 overall and 2-0 in WNYAC play.

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College wrestling team could not overcome four forfeits and fell 33-12 to Mercyhurst North East in a WNYAC dual match. The Pioneers fall to 1-5 on the season while the Saints improve to 5-5 on the season.

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College men's basketball team opened up the 2008 portion of their season with a strong performance in a 71-39 victory over JCC-Olean. Travis Branen (Elmira Free) had a monster game with 22 points and 16 rebounds as the Pioneers won their 4th straight and improved to 12-4 (1-0 WNYAC) on the season.

and the NYS Education Department to offer a new bachelor of science degree in
forensic science technology, which will begin accepting students for the fall

A-State to Induct Three into Hall of Fame

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College athletic department will induct three new members into the Athletic Hall of Fame on January 26. Kathryn Stedman (volleyball & softball), Joseba Sarriegui (cross country & track & field), and Mike Brown (baseball) will be inducted at a brunch ceremony in the Allegany Room of Central Dining Hall and then honored in between games of the basketball doubleheader with Jamestown CC the same afternoon.

Athletes Back on Campus

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College athletes are back on campus preparing to begin play in 2008. The men's and women's basketball teams, the wrestling team, and the swimming team began practicing on Sunday while the Indoor Track & Field team returns to campus on Thursday.
