In a battle of the top two teams in Region III Division III volleyball, #9 ��Ӱֱ�� State (18-2)��came away with a 3-0 victory over #8 Jamestown CC (21-3) on Tuesday.�� After falling behind 14-2 early in game one of the match the Lady Pioneers rallied for a 31-29 victory and then went on to win the next two games 25-20, and 25-16.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College baseball team advanced to the Western New York Athletic Conference semifinals with a 7-3 victory over #3 Genesee CC in a 1st round match-up.�� The Pioneers improve to 6-8 (5-7 WNYAC) during the fall season and will play the winner of the #2 Monroe CC/#7 Jamestown CC 1st round game on Saturday.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College men's soccer team improved to 8-3 (8-1 Region III Division III) with a 2-0 shutout at Erie CC on Tuesday.�� The shutout was the team's fifth of the season.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College women's soccer team scored two 2nd half goals en route to a 2-0 victory over JCC-Olean on Tuesday afternoon.�� The win is the Lady Pioneers second straight shutout and increases the teams unbeaten streak to six games (7-2-1 overall and 6-2-1 Region III Division III).

��Ӱֱ�� State College sophomore Clifton Krotz (Cattaraugus Little Valley) has been named the Northeast Football Conference defensive player of the week.�� Krotz was the leading tackler in the Pioneers 27-21 loss to Hudson Valley.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College baseball team will take on #3 Genesee CC in the opening round of the WNYAC fall tournament.�� The Pioneers finished the fall regular season with a 5-8 (4-7 WNYAC) mark and are coming off a 2-1 weekend that included a 7-4 victory over the Cougars on Sunday.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College baseball team won two out of three WNYAC games this weekend as they closed out the regular schedule of the fall season.�� ASC split with Jamestown CC, winning 9-8 before falling 5-3.��on Saturday and then downed Genesee CC 7-4 in a rain shortened game.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College volleyball team advanced to the Onondaga CC Tournament final but settled for a 2nd place finish after falling to Jamestown CC in the final.�� ASC finishes the tournament with a 6-1 record in the two-day tournament and is now 17-2 on the season.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College women's soccer team ran their unbeaten streak to five games with a 5-0 victory over Niagara CCC on Saturday afternoon.�� ASC is now 6-2-1 (5-2-1 Region III Division III) on the year.

Koya Takadama (Soma, Japan) headed in the winning goal with eleven minutes remaining as the ��Ӱֱ�� State College men's soccer team improved to 7-3 (7-1 Region III Division III) with a 1-0 victory over Niagara CCC.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College football team fell nine yards short of rallying for a come-from-behind victory versus Hudson Valley CC.�� The Vikings kept the Pioneers off the board late in the 4th quarter to escape with a 27-21 Northeast Football Conference contest on Saturday.�� HVCC improves to��2-2 (1-1 NFC) while ASC falls to 2-2 (0-2 NFC).

The men's and women's cross country teams both competed well at the Highlander Invitational at Houghton College.�� The men captured 3rd place out of��eight teams while the women finished in 7th place.

Home cooking takes center stage this fall at ��Ӱֱ�� State College's Central Dining Hall as the dining services team introduces the "Taste from Home Recipe" contest. 

��Ӱֱ�� State College freshmen setter Breanna Horton (Owego Free) has helped the volleyball team to an 11-1 start to the 2008 season.�� She is averaging 8.6 assists per game, 1.3 digs, and 0.9 kills thus far.�� She sat down and answered a few questions recently to give an inside look of the volleyball team and college life.��

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College men's soccer team could not get the offense going and fell 3-0 to Monroe CC in a WNYAC contest on Wednesday.�� The Pioneers fall to 6-3 (6-1 Region III Division III) while the Division I Tribunes improve to 5-4.

Clifton Krotz (Cattaraugus Little Valley) is a sophomore strong safety for this year's football team.�� Krotz is a leader on defense, accumulating 19 total tackles including 2 for a loss and 1 quarterback sack.�� He is the subject of this week's Q&A.

��Ӱֱ�� State College running back DeAndre Johnson (Detroit, MI) has been named the Region III male athlete of the week following his first 100-yard rushing game of his collegiate career.�� Johnson helped the Pioneers to a 33-0 victory over Williamson College on Saturday.

Office of Admissions is hosting its annual High School Visitation Program this
fall.�� The program has been scheduled for each Thursday starting Sept. 25,
and running through Nov. 13, 2008.��
