Soccer goalies Simone Delaney (Canisteo Greenwood) and Nick Smith (Arkport) have been named the ASC Athletes of the Week selected by the Sports Information office.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College women's soccer team won their fourth straight contest on Tuesday with a 3-1 victory over Genesee CC.  The win improves the Lady Pioneers to 5-1 on the season and 4-1 in Region III Division III play.

Battling injuries the ��Ӱֱ�� State College volleyball team could not solve Niagara CCC and fell 24-26, 14-25, 17-25 in a WNYAC match-up.  ASC falls to 10-6 overall while NCCC improves to 12-0.

Local eateries will once again participate in ��Ӱֱ�� State College’s sixth annual Wellsville Ridge Walk and Run.

Dr. Steve Tyrell, vice president for Student Affairs at ��Ӱֱ�� State College, recently co-authored an article in the CSPA-NYS Journal of Student Affairs. Tyrell, along with his co-author, Dr. Charlie Fey, vice president for Student Affairs at the University of Akron, discusses the future of student affairs in higher education.

��Ӱֱ�� State has partnered with Christianville to help rebuild the much-needed medical facilities that were destroyed by the 2010 earthquake.

Trailing 23-14 with 2:51 remaining, ��Ӱֱ�� State rallied to within 23-21 and had the ball in the final minute but could not capitalize and fell to Erie CC in another thrilling edition of the annual battle between Western New York rivals.

The Monroe CC pitching staff held ��Ӱֱ�� State to just five hits on the day as they swept a WNYAC doubleheader 2-0 and 5-0.

For the second straight Saturday, the ��Ӱֱ�� State College volleyball team won all three matches at the FLCC Pod.  ASC defeated Cayuga CC 25-23, 25-12, 25-18, Onondaga CC 25-19, 25-16, 25-16, and Jefferson CC 25-23, 25-21, 26-24.

Colby Curran (��Ӱֱ�� Almond) scored with 6:40 remaining in the 2nd overtime as ��Ӱֱ�� State defeated Mercyhurst North East 1-0.  ASC is now won two in a row and is 2-2-1 on the season.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College women's soccer team earned their 3rd straight shutout and 4th of the season on Saturday with a 4-0 road victory over Mercyhurst North East.  ASC is now 4-1 and has allowed just one goal.

For the second week in a row, the ��Ӱֱ�� State College women's cross country team won an invitational.  The Lady Pioneers were victorious in the FLCC Invitational defeating #1 ranked Mohawk Valley CC.  The men's team finished 2nd out of seven teams.

Dr. Richard Kellogg, professor emeritus of psychology at ��Ӱֱ�� State college, is the author of an article appearing in the most recent issue of THE SERPENTINE MUSE, a quarterly literary journal. Titled “Francis Galton: A Suitable Companion for the Great Detective,” the article notes that Sir Francis Galton (1822-1911), the eminent British psychologist, shared a number of hobbies, attitudes, and social values with Conan Doyle’s literary creation, Sherlock Holmes.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College Drama Club will present Man of La Mancha as its fall musical. Performances are scheduled for Thursday and Friday, Oct. 27 and 28 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 29, at 2 p.m., in the Orvis Auditorium on the ��Ӱֱ�� campus. Ticket prices are $5 for general admission and $2 for ASC/AU college students.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College volleyball team battled hard but fell in two five-set Region III Division III matches at Monroe CC on Thursday.  ASC fell 23-25, 25-23, 21-25, 25-20, 11-15 to Finger Lakes CC and then saw Monroe CC rally to the win the final three sets (25-23, 25-23, 17-25, 20-25, 12-15) to win in the nightcap.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College men's soccer team picked up their first victory of the season on Thursday as they defeated Jamestown CC 3-0.

Culinary arts students will prepare appetizers, soups, a salad bar, and spaghetti and meat balls and sausage; assorted breads and desserts will be prepared by the baking, production, and management students. A choice of beverages will be available.

Five members of the ��Ӱֱ�� State College professional staff recently returned from a week-long trip to Minot, ND, where they participated in flood relief efforts. What follows is a first-person account of the trip.

The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) honored ��Ӱֱ�� State College as a leader among institutions of higher education for its support of volunteering, service-learning, and civic engagement. ��Ӱֱ�� State was admitted to the for engaging its students, faculty, and staff in meaningful service that achieves measurable results in the community.

On Sunday, Sept. 11, ��Ӱֱ�� State capped three days of observances commemorating the tenth anniversary of 9-11 with a two-mile road race/walk to honor and celebrate the American heroes of 9-11.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College baseball team could not solve defending Region III Division III champion Erie CC in a WNYAC doubleheader.  The Kats defeated ASC 7-1 and 11-2.

Niagara CCC used big innings in both games as they swept ��Ӱֱ�� State 7-1 & 11-4 in a WNYAC doubleheader in Sanborn on Saturday.  ASC was playing for the first time in 10 days.

Members of the ��Ӱֱ�� State College community conducted a solemn ceremony Friday in remembrance of the 10-year anniversary of 9-11 and the attacks on the twin towers of the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and the plane crash in Shanksville (crash site of United 93), the three-pronged terrorist attack that shook our nation.

The ��Ӱֱ�� State College men's soccer team could not find the back of the net as they fell 1-0 to Jefferson CC on Saturday afternoon.  The Pioneers offense has yet to get going as the team has scored two goals in their first three games (0-2-1).
