The sixth annual Celebrate Service, Celebrate Allegany day of service event, held on Saturday, Oct. 28, was a success, as 250 student volunteers from ��Ӱֱ�� University, ��Ӱֱ�� State College, and Houghton College engaged in community service projects throughout Allegany County.

More than 60 science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) educators and industry professionals gathered for a forum at ��Ӱֱ�� State recently to explore the economic future of western New York, closing the skills gap, and increasing interest in STEM fields.

Festa Italiana dinner is from 5-7 p.m. Nov. 9 in the Culinary Arts Building on the Wellsville campus. The cost of the meal is $17 for adults and $8 for children 10 and under.

When considering colleges, many students are searching not only for the right school but also for the right career path. ��Ӱֱ�� State College (ASC) is ranked near the top of the class when students search for several degrees in architecture, design, and business.

Kellogg's contribution is a personal memoir titled “Mossberg Memories,” in which he describes the joy of hunting experiences shared with his brother for more than half a century. He notes that Allegany County is a sporting paradise for outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, boating, hunting, and fishing.

The Future Workforce Forum: Closing the Middle Skills STEM Gap, a regional conversation about Western New York’s economic future, will take place Friday, Oct. 27,  from 1-4 p.m., at ��Ӱֱ�� State's Student Leadership Center.

��Ӱֱ�� State Pioneers and their families saddled up this year for yet another fun and successful Homecoming and Family Weekend celebration, which featured, among other highlights, the college’s first bulls and barrels rodeo.

A national resource for students has declared, “��Ӱֱ�� State is one of the best in the country” for freshman retention, and has also praised the college for graduation rates of students at risk of not completing their degree.

Students have been clearing land and excavating a pond for the Allegany County Vietnam Veterans Organization in Alma. According to Building Trades Department Chair Jack Jones, the three-week project has allowed students to serve local military veterans, while fulfilling their operating time requirements on the bulldozer and excavator for their curriculum.

��Ӱֱ�� State is all revved up about its newest facility that enables students to learn about motorcycle and power sports diagnosis and repair. 

Paying tribute to the early history of the Wellsville campus while also looking ahead to the future, ��Ӱֱ�� State has come up with a fitting new name for its restaurant at the School of Applied Technology: “The Refinery Restaurant.”

A group of  technology management students recently toured Incubator Works in ��Ӱֱ��, where they learned about the importance of incubators to start-up businesses and to the development and launching of new technology products. 

For two weeks, 14 students worked on upgrading the cabins, which included foundation stabilization, structural repair, reroofing, siding repair, and painting. Altogether, nine cabins were included in the renovation project, which was a joint collaboration among ��Ӱֱ�� State; HistoriCorps; and the New York State (NYS) Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.

A number of astounding paintings by artist Kenneth P. Cobb are being presented in an exhibit titled “Reflections” at the Hinkle Memorial Library Gallery at from now to Oct. 27.
