Meeting Held to Discuss Faculty Exchange

Representatives from ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College (ASC) met recently with representatives from Cornell Cooperative Extension and the Wyoming County Dairy Institute to create an arrangement whereby ASC and Cooperative Extension will conduct a pilot program involving a faculty exchange for the next academic year. Eight Pioneers Earn Academic All-American Honors

Eight ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College athletes have earned NJCAA Academic All-Americans for excellence in the classroom.  Cal Ayers (Letchworth), Keenan Hall (Monticello), Kaila Smith (÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ Almond), Dustin Falkner (Letchworth), and Gallaway Longenecker (Manheim, PA) were all named Distinguished Academica All-Americans while Kevin Underhill (Somers), Paul Farrell (St. Francis), and Sarah Palmiter (÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ Almond) were named All-American. Local Educator Selected to Participate in Advanced Placement Program Reading

Dr. Earl Packard, assistant professor and chair of the Mathematics/Physics Department at ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College, was selected to participate this June in the annual reading and scoring of the College Board's AP Examinations in AP Calculus. Read Article

39th Annual Finger Lakes Dairy Judging Contest for FFA Members

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College (ASC) Agriculture and Horticulture Department and the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Steuben County will sponsor the 39th annual Finger Lakes Dairy Judging Contest for Future Farmers of America (FFA) members as well as for 4-H members from local counties at the ASC college farm Tuesday, July 8, 2008. ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State to host Summer Camps

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College is getting prepared to host the annual summer sports festival.  The 2008 version of the sports festival will include the 27th annual day camp and the 40th learn to swim program.  ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State coaches will also be sponsoring camps in Basketball, Volleyball, and Soccer. Jerome Named WNYAC Co-Freshman of the Year

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College volleyball player Jenni Jerome (Syracuse/Westhill) has been named the Western New York Athletic Conference co-female freshman athlete of the year.  Jerome helped the Lady Pioneers to the National Championship Tournament and a 36-6 record. Read Article

Barbara Becker Bench Dedication

Threatening skies could not dampen the joy at ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College recently as ASC alumna Barbara Becker, '47, of Corning, visited campus to participate in the dedication of a bench and perpetual garden in memory of her parents, Leo and Frances Becker. Read Article

Allegany Arc Donates to ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College

Allegany Arc recently contributed $1,000 to the Khalid Ashraf Memorial Endowed Scholarship at ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College. The scholarship honors the memory of Dr. Khalid Ashraf who was killed in an accident in June 2007. The money is a result of contributions Arc received as memorials in Ashraf's name after his passing last year. Read Article
