More than 900 students from Region I BOCES (Board of Cooperative Education and Services) districts encompassing Western New York and the Southern Tier, competed in the 21st annual SkillsUSA-Region I Leadership Conference and Skills Olympics, (formerly VICA--Vocational Industrial Clubs of America) held in March at ��Ӱֱ�� State College.

Eighty science and technology projects were on display for judging and public viewing. Participants were divided into senior (grades 10-12), junior (grades 7-9), and novice grade categories.

Thirty-eight students representing seven regional high schools recently participated in the third annual ��Ӱֱ�� State Technology Challenge on the ��Ӱֱ�� State campus.

While there, three ��Ӱֱ�� State representatives competed in the annual Skid Steer Rodeo held onsite. The rodeo is a skills competition which tests an individual’s ability as he/she operates through an obstacle course with agility, accuracy and the best time, in this case, operating a skid steer, so named because of its means of locomotion.

��Ӱֱ�� State College's Health Information Technology program has been notified that a 2011 graduate and a clinical preceptor have been honored with achievement awards.

Gregory Sammons, Chief of University Police at ��Ӱֱ�� State College, met with members of the college’s Honors Program March 30 to address the question “in New York State, do you have the legal right to defend yourself and your home?”

Continuing its commitment to address these growing issues surrounding the privacy and security of health information, the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) will sponsor (with the support of Crowe Horwath) the seventh annual Health Information Privacy and Security Week, April 11 - 17. This year’s theme is “United in a Mission to Protect Information.”

Jen Pepper's recent work, a glimpse, spark & flash, an installation of sculpture and video, may be viewed at the Llewellyn Gallery in Room 312 of the Engineering Science Building on the ��Ӱֱ�� State College campus through Friday April 8. She will return to ��Ӱֱ�� State for an artist talk in the gallery on Friday, April 8, at 4 p.m. This talk is free and open to the public. Regular gallery hours are Monday through Fr
