Clark Meets with Honors Program Members

Craig Clark, interim vice president for academic affairs at ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College, met with Honors Program members March 8 to describe his years working in Saudi Arabia. From 1982 through 1989, Clark was employed as a civil engineer at various locations in Saudi Arabia as the kingdom experienced rapid development and massive building programs.

The convocation recognizes the outstanding work of students through acknowledgement of membership in a variety of honor societies as well as the conferment of scholarships and special recognitions. More than 300 students will be honored at this year’s celebration, presided over by Craig R. Clark, ASC interim vice president for academic affairs. The welcome and introduction of keynote speaker Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient 2009 James A. Bradbury, president, Kanawha Scales & Systems, Inc., will be given by Dr. John M. Anderson, college president.

Campus Bookstore Still the Best Choice for ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State

College students can buy and resell their textbooks anywhere these days, but an overwhelming number of ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College students choose to use the Auxiliary Campus Enterprises and Services (ACES). According to the survey respondents, 82 percent of students purchase their books from the store. ACES runs the Campus Stores at both ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State campuses.

Students Explain and Demonstrate Uses of Alternative Energy

School of Applied Technology to Host 12th Annual NYS Postsecondary SkillsUSA Competition

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College’s School of Applied Technology, Wellsville, will host the 12th annual New York State Postsecondary (college level) SkillsUSA competition Saturday, March 27, 2010. Proposed categories of competition are automotive service, CNC milling, carpentry, collision repair technology, commercial baking, computer maintenance technology, culinary, masonry, precision machining, residential wiring, technical drafting, and welding.

CRT Sponsors Competition to Raise Funds for Haiti

In its continuing effort to aid the people of Haiti, another ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State campus group, the Campus Round Table (CRT), the central governing board for all Residence Halls on campus, sponsored a campus-wide penny wars competition. CRT members sat in front of The Terrace during the lunch rush and raised a total of $230.63.

Health Information Technology NYHIMA Awards

An ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College health information technology graduate is being honored with achievement awards in 2010.
Cheryl Wilkins, Wilson, has been awarded the New York Health Information Management Association (NYHIMA) Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement. Wilkins, who graduated from ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State in December 2009, maintained a 3.26 grade point average (out of a possible 4.0).
