Auto program earns 5-year NATEF reaccreditation

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State is pleased to announce that the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) has granted its automotive service technician program a five-year reaccreditation at the highest level NATEF offers – Master  Automobile Service Technology.

Construction on House 55 underway

The project involves the efforts of students in numerous programs, including building trades: building construction; masonry; heavy equipment operations; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning; and electrical construction and maintenance electrician.

Evelyn Turner and Culinary Arts Dept. support local veterans group

During the college’s Festa Italiana dinner, Turner donated $5,000 to the veterans group. In addition to Turner’s generosity, the Culinary Art Department’s fundraiser dinner, bake sale, and donation jar from that day raised roughly $4,000 for the organization.

Festa Italiana dinner is from 5-7 p.m. Nov. 9 in the Culinary Arts Building on the Wellsville campus. The cost of the meal is $17 for adults and $8 for children 10 and under.

Giving back to local veterans

Students have been clearing land and excavating a pond for the Allegany County Vietnam Veterans Organization in Alma. According to Building Trades Department Chair Jack Jones, the three-week project has allowed students to serve local military veterans, while fulfilling their operating time requirements on the bulldozer and excavator for their curriculum.

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State is all revved up about its newest facility that enables students to learn about motorcycle and power sports diagnosis and repair. 

Students apply skills to restoring cabins at Allegany State Park

For two weeks, 14 students worked on upgrading the cabins, which included foundation stabilization, structural repair, reroofing, siding repair, and painting. Altogether, nine cabins were included in the renovation project, which was a joint collaboration among ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State; HistoriCorps; and the New York State (NYS) Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.
