Andrew Foster (Clarkson, ONT.) allowed just three hits in six innings of work but ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State managed just four hits in a 3-1 loss to the University of Connecticut - Avery Point in Cocoa, FL on Friday.

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College baseball team opens up their 2008 season this week as they head south for their annual trip to Cocoa Expo in Cocoa, FL. The Pioneers were 10-6 during the Fall season and were 48-16 during the 2006-07 school year.

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College swimmers Kailtyn Corbett (Clarence) and Becca Mastasio (Livonia) combined to write a blog entry each day as the Pioneers competed in the NJCAA National Championships in Fort Pierce, FL. The men's team won the non-scholarship championship while the women's team finished in 9th place.
Men win Non-Scholarship Title, Women finish 9th overall

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College men's swimming team won the non-scholarship title at the NJCAA National Championships. The Pioneers racked up 233 points to top the non-scholarship schools and finish 5th overall. The women scored 82 points to finish 9th out of 15 teams.Â

ASC places 12th statewide in NYSMATYC Math Contest

Fifty ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College students participated in the fall portion of the annual NYS Mathematics Association of Two-Year Colleges (NYSMATYC) Math Contest in October where the team placed 12th in the statewide competition. More than 700 students from 22 NYS two-year colleges competed.
Construction Specifications Institute Awards ASC

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College (SUNY College of Technology) has been named this year's "Honorable Mention" in the 2008 Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) Awards for its recently completed townhouse-style residence halls. LECESSE Construction, Rochester; SWBR Architects, Rochester; and DASNY (Dormitory Authority of the State of New York) were also recognized along with ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ representatives at the awards ceremony in March.

Longenecker Racks up Awards

Longenecker finished the season with a 20-4 record. He won the Region III Championship at 133 lbs. to earn a spot at the National Championships. At the Nationals, he advanced to the semifinals before falling in a tough match but rebounded to earn 5th place and become the A-State's 27th all-time NJCAA All-American.Â

Six members of the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College indoor track and field team have earned All-Region honors by winning events at the Region III Championships. Andy Omoregie (Gates Chili), Rob Riley (Rochester/Edison), Zak Williamson (Rocky Point), Broncho Rollins (Ithaca), and Tyrell Davis (Mt. Vernon) helped the men's team to the Regional Championship while Najia McGee (Rochester/Edison) helped the Lady Pioneers to a 4th place finish.

Four members of the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College men's basketball teams have earned postseason honors. Dusty Marshall (Newfield) was named All-Region 1st team and All-WNYAC 1st team while Travis Brannen (Elmira Free) was a 3rd team selection to both the All-Region and All-WNYAC teams. Dan Foley (Irondequoit) and Pat White (Warren, OH) were both selected honorable mention All-WNYAC.

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College women's basketball coach Gina Boyd has been named the Region III Division II Coach of the Year. Boyd led the Lady Pioneers to a 17-9 record and the #2 seed in the regional tournament.

It means developing recipes, planning menus, locating and ordering large quantities of foodstuffs, preparing the food, and serving it to customers at the right temperature - all while maintaining the quality and safety of the food.

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College sophomore forward Anthia Smith (Elmira Free) has been named the Region III Division II Player of the Year. Smith was joined by teammate Tiffany McLaughlin (Wellsville) on the All-Region first team while Dasaundra Carr (Boys & Girls) was a third team selection.
