The Association of Council Members and College Trustees (ACT) of State University of New York (SUNY) has notified ��Ӱֱ�� State College that a group of five students has captured the Student Initiative Awards for Region I in its annual ACT for Student Initiative Award.

The Communications Office of ��Ӱֱ�� State College has recently been notified that its admissions promotional marketing materials captured a coveted Gold Award in the recent MarCom award competition.

The Admissions Office at ��Ӱֱ�� State College announces an Open House program, Sunday, Nov. 15, beginning with registration for all visitors at 8:30 a.m. in the Orvis Activities Center on the ��Ӱֱ�� campus.

Students at ��Ӱֱ�� State College will stage “Rally in the Valley 2” on Wednesday, Oct. 28, from noon-1 p.m. in the Student Gathering Place of Central Dining Hall on the ��Ӱֱ�� campus to protest NYS Gov. David Paterson’s additional $90 million funding cuts to the SUNY (State University of New York) budget.

��Ӱֱ�� State College will host several Humphrey Fellows on Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 11-12, where they will participate in a panel on climate change and meet select classes on campus as well. 

On Nov. 11, ��Ӱֱ�� State SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor Robert Albrecht will introduce the panel discussion on Climate Change and Global Warming at 7 p.m. in the Orvis Auditorium on the ��Ӱֱ�� campus.  This event is open to the public free of charge.

physical and health sciences at ��Ӱֱ�� State College, met with members of the ��Ӱֱ�� State Honors Program Oct. 20, 2009, to present a short historical background on the H1N1 flu virus, often called the ‘swine flu’ virus.

��Ӱֱ�� State College’s Hinkle Memorial Library Gallery will host an exhibition of the works of local artist Jay Pullman, from Monday, Nov. 2, through the end of the current academic semester (mid-December).

��Ӱֱ�� State College (ASC) and ��Ӱֱ�� University (AU) successfully teamed up, winning a Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service: MLK Collegiate Challenge Grant of $1,000 sponsored by the North Carolina Campus Compact. The grant supports efforts of college students to honor Dr. King through service to others.

On Sept. 12, 33 ��Ӱֱ�� State students, representing 11 different clubs and organizations, traveled to Gowanda to help clean up and facilitate repairs resulting from the damaging storms on Aug. 9 and 10 of this year.

��Ӱֱ�� State College’s fourth annual “Taste of Wellsville” was another success story as it raised $250 for the SPCA serving Allegany County and the concurrent culinary arts: baking, production and management community bake sale raised a record $2,800 for SkillsUSA, breast cancer research, and the Top Hat Club, the culinary honor society.
