State Budget Update

In my effort to keep all constituencies informed as the New York State budget process evolves, the following summarizes the impact that Governor Paterson's budget proposal may have on ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State. You'll recall from my earlier communication that there were three types of possible budget cuts that would substantially affect the college. They were: the non-funding of negotiated salary increases, the state's redirection of 90% of the revenue from tuition increases, and a SUNY base budget cut.

ASC Mardi Gras Celebration on Tuesday, Feb. 24

Students enrolled in the culinary arts programs at ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College will prepare a Mardi Gras celebration, featuring a New Orleans-style menu, on Tuesday, Feb. 24 from 5-7 p.m., in the student cafeteria of the Culinary Arts Building on the Wellsville campus.

SUNY Financial Aid Day

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College Office of Student Financial Services (Financial Aid/Student Accounts) will participate in SUNY Financial Aid Day, Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, beginning at 9 a.m., in the Engineering Technology Building, room 215, on the ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ campus. 

ASC Spring 2009 Opening Remarks with Dr. John M. Anderson

Despite a grim fiscal outlook, not only for ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College, but for all of New York State, Dr. John M. Anderson, president, ASC, was cautiously optimistic as he welcomed faculty and staff back to campus just prior to the start of the spring 2009 academic semester.

Food Donated to Turning Point Food Pantry

The Civic Engagement and Activism Headquarters at ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College conducted a food drive prior to Christmas during which the members collected four large boxes of food from the students of ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College. 

ASC Group Attends NEACURH Regional Conference at Western New England College

Recently, ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) adviser Allison Keddie and a group of five ASC students attended the NEACURH (National Affiliation of College and University Residence Halls) Regional Conference at Western New England College. 

WINS Donates Presents to Family

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College's  (Women in Non-traditional Studies--though membership is open to all students) recently raised $250  through bottle and can returns and coin banks to buy presents for an area family sponsored by Steuben Rural Ministry of Canisteo.

Dr. John M. Anderson, the 11th president of ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College, can be seen in the stands rooting on ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State athletes.  He recently took the time to answer a few questions from the sports information department.

Local Technician Receives National Award

At a technician recognition awards banquet held in San Diego, CA, in November, John Garippa, Wayland, associate professor, Automotive Trades, ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College, was honored as the NATEF/ASE (National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation/Automotive Service Excellence) Instructor of the Year. 

SkillsUSA Helps Soldiers
