Pioneers shut out Mechanics

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College football team shut out Williamson College 33-0 in their first road test of the 2008 season. With the victory the Blue & Gold improve to 2-1 (0-1 NFC) while the Mechanics fall to 1-1.

Both the men's and women's cross country teams at ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College finished on top of the leaderboard at the Finger Lakes CC Bruce Bridgeman Invitational. The men won by 13 points while the women won by five.

sponsoring a "Drive and Ride" event on Monday, Sept. 29, 2008, from 8:30 a.m.

Men's Soccer Moves In to Top Five

Both the men's and women's cross country teams at ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State moved up the polls in the latest NJCAA Division III rankings. The men's team is currently ranked #5 while the women share the #5 ranking with Hudson Valley CC.

Spikers win WNYAC Opener

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College volleyball team opened up WNYAC play with a 25-21, 25-19, 25-20 victory over Monroe CC to improve to 10-1 (1-0 WNYAC) on the season. The match was the team's first action at the Orvis Activities Center this season.
Pioneers Battle Bobcats Tough, But Fall in OT

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State and Bryant & Stratton battled back and forth for nearly 98 minutes before the Bobcats were able to score in the first overtime to earn a hard fought 1-0 victory. The loss snaps the Pioneers (5-2, 5-1 Region III Division III) four-game winning streak while Bryant & Stratton, a NJCAA Division I program, improve to 4-1 on the season.

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State and Niagara CCC split a WNYAC doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon. The Pioneers won the opener 6-1 and lost the nightcap 9-3. ASC is now 3-5 (2-4 WNYAC).

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College women's soccer team snapped a two-game losing streak by downing NJCAA Division I Bryant & Stratton 2-1 in double overtime. With the win the Lady Pioneers improve to 3-2 (2-2 Region III Division III play) on the season.

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College football team fell behind early and turned the ball over seven times as they fell 37-19 to Erie CC in the rain in front of 1,767 fans at the college's first on-campus homecoming game. ASC falls to 1-1 (0-1 NFC) on the year while ECC improves to 2-0 (1-0 NFC).

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College volleyball team was undefeated (4-0) heading into the championship game of the Jefferson CC but lost a hard fought battle to Jamestown CC (25-15, 25-27, 10-15) in the finals. The Lady Pioneers are now 9-1 on the season.

The ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College men's cross country team won their own invitational as they opened up the 2008 season. ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State's John Sweeney (Barker) won the men's race while Lady Pioneer Ashley Fung (Greenwich) won the women's race.
Men's Soccer defeats Jefferson CC

÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State scored twice in the first three minutes as they took control of the contest en route to a 5-0 victory over Jefferson CC. The Pioneers, ranked #13 in Division III of the NJCAA, have now won four straight and improve to 5-1 on the season while the Cannoneers fall to 0-4.

After falling behind 1-0 in the first half, Jefferson CC scored four unanswered goals en route to a 4-2 victory in a Region III Division III match-up played on ASC's new field on campus. The Lady Pioneers are now 2-2 on the season while JCC is now 4-0 on the season.

The #13 ranked ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College men's soccer team won their 3rd straight contest on Thursday afternoon by defeating #12 Finger Lakes CC 3-2. With the win the Pioneers improve to 4-1 while the Lakers suffer their first defeat and fall to 4-1.

After a quick 3-1 start the men's soccer team has earned the #13 ranking in the first NJCAA Division III poll of the regular season. The Pioneers have outscored opponents 14 to 9 on the season and 11 to 5 in their last two victories.

Tompkins Cortland CC scored three goals in the final 16 minutes of the contest to down ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State 4-1 in a Region III Division III match-up played under the lights in Dryden. The Lady Pioneers are now 2-1 on the year while TCCC improves to 2-3.

Hewitt Signs with Toronto

Former ÷ÈÓ°Ö±²¥ State College and University of Arkansas football player Matt Hewitt (Englewood, NJ) has signed a contract with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. Hewitt was one of nine players signed by the team today.
